Tennessee played Indiana last year. Indiana played with their starting qb out but their backup had several games experience.

Tennessee went on the win the game but this year Indiana is far superior to Tennessee winning 4 straight while Vols have lost 4 straight.

Both teams impacted by Covid so that’s no excuse. Both had a lot of players coming back. Coaching, or lack thereof, is the difference.

Penix, their QB, was a Tennessee commit when Butch was canned. I always felt like Pruitt wasn't interested. He started as a true freshman at Indiana. Likewise Martinez at Nebraska.

I’m curious about the two Teams where one beat South Carolina and Missouri vs the one who lost four straight.

They outplayed us most of the game. The on-side kick was lucky.

Actually we were whooping the crap out of them the entire 1st half but when you only put up FGs then the other team stays in the game. Once Indiana got some momentum we almost couldn't stop them while we looked like dog poo on offense until we got a pulse back in the 4th quarter.

The bad thing about the QB comparison. IU's QB could be UT's QB.
I actually watched Indiana play Michigan this year. I know Indiana beat a crappy team, but I was not impressed with Penix. If I kicked JG to the curb and went looking for a QB, I definitely wouldn't go looking at Penix.

Indiana’s schedule.
Did they play Bama or Georgia?
Or have a game with 2 pick sixes?
Or have a QB that locks in on his primary receivers and never checks down until hit gets hit in the backfield because he cant see pressure coming?
Or blows a 13-0 lead and gives up 24 points in 3rd quarter?
Or never got HB practice, due to COVID shut down and then quarantined in fall camp?
apples and oranges.
2 totally different teams going in totally different directions from last years game

Tennessee has Jeremy Pruitt, I rest my case

Penix actually signed and came here for a year before transferring

No, he and Martinez both decommitted on the same day about a month after Butch was fired. No way to know if they would have honored their verbals if Butch had stayed. But the fact that neither one decommitted right away makes me think that they at least considered playing for Pruitt. In the end, both started games as true freshmen during the 2018 season -- Penix at Indiana and Martinez at Nebraska.
