First post here, so hi everyone.

I am thinking about taking my 7 year old son to the game tomorrow. I was given 2 tickets in section YY with no parking pass. It's also a 2 1/2 hour drive each way. Is it really worth all the hassle of the drive and trying to find parking for these seats?

I drive 3 when I take mine. He will enjoy it.

GA hss good advice on parking snd riding.

Ok. Thanks for the advice. The other side of his family is all gator, so I'm trying to plan a day that will leave a mark on him in Knoxville. My main concern was just the seat location.

Park at Market Square for free and ride the trolley 5 minutes to the stadium. Your kid will love riding the trolley. I've done this with little kids for the past 5 years or so and it's as hassle free as it gets and minimizes long walks and traffic.

this. we stayed at the crown plaza across the street from Market square...totally convenient....

It's always worth it to watch at game in Neyland. There's plenty of parking to be found for $20 or so. Or what GAVol said.

No that's a bad seat in the place IMO.

have 4 kids and I take them all to their first game at age 5. Have taken 3 so far and they love Vol Village. Games, lots of free stuff that kids like, face painting, etc. It' a crowd but my kids enjoyed it. A good way to pass the time. One thing I love is how fellow fans seem to go out of their way to make sure kids enjoy the experience. My kids always get treated kindly, people letting them move in front to see Vol Walk, etc. I think most get what a special thing it is for families and what a memory it is for kids. I love the sense of community and appreciation for tradition and experience. It's what makes Tennessee football so much more than a game.

I have been sitting in ZZ11 (just around the stadium from YY) since 1997. I've had the opportunity to move seats and haven't done so yet.

Vol Village is great. 7 is fine. We will be there tomorrow with a 13 year old and an 8 year old. His first game was 6... got bored at times but at 7 was fine. The 13 year old girl tolerates it. :)

My daughter (TN fan), Son in law (Ga fan, and two sons (one Ga fan and one Fla fan) are going for the first time. I can't wait to hear their stories when they get back. They will be sitting in Z12. Hope your daughter has a fantastic time.

My 7 year old daughter is excited about going to Neyland tomorrow. I've been a season ticket holder since 1997, so we plan on the Vol Walk, the band march, etc.

Just curious about the Volunteer Village. I've honestly never had a reason to check it out.

Thoughts on Vol Village or other ideas?

Raising them right!

Vol Village is SOOO much fun. I go everytime that I'm at a game. Great buttons to pick up, cheerleaders there, blow up jumpers for kids, free chocolate milk, just a great experience especially for kids! Have fun and GO VOLS!!

My sister is planning on taking her 3 year old daughter. I think it's probably too young and will likely end horribly. Any thoughts or advice?

My kids love it, especially my daughter when the cheerleaders come and do cheers with them. They usually have a meet signing autographs. Last time went was the mens bball team, awesome. Kids have a blast if its not too hot and you can hop out and hit the volwalk real easy and come right back over.

That type of stuff is what the game is all about.

Yes, its always worth the hassle. Took a midbight flight home Dallas, just for a 5 hour drive to Bristol just so my 10 could go. Vols games with the kids are something they never forgot, its always worth it.

Make sure you get there in time for the Vol walk. Many times the cheer squad will be there with the real Smokey and the Smokey in the mascot suit. Don't be afraid to shuffle her to the front and let everyone know it's her first game---she'll probably get to pet Smokey, and they're normally willing to pose with kids for pictures, too. Most folks are nice and will make way for the kids.

Hope you guys have a great time.

We had a PERFECT day! She enjoyed the village, LOVED the band, and made it through the whole game. She was singing Rocky Top and screaming on 3rd down.

She told me as we were leaving that it was the most fun day of her life 😀. She is already asking to go back. My dad may have lost his seat for the rest of the season!
