Taking 35

Clay Travis asked Butch straight out today on 104.5 how many and how. Butch made a comment about not taking as many last year just to have a full class. He said a few will gray shirt and that we still had a few spots left. He also said that his staff had some experience with this and have a specific plan. He didn't get into the details but 35 sounds like the number.

"UT can count back at least five scholarships against 2013 because that year’s class was under the 25-man limit. So that’s now 10 that wouldn’t count against the SEC signing limit."

How does Woodberry get from five to 10?

In the context 5 FAAs were signed prior to dec 1 (which are not legislated)

Makes sense as to why the coaches supposedly pushed for Malone to sign his agreement a couple weeks ago - before December 1st. All I can say is wow

Malone signed those for Tennessee, Clemson, Georgia, and Ohio State. He stated he did it to lift contact restrictions for his final four. Of course, if it has an added benefit, so much the better.

How many kids do y'all think will transfer out ? Would that give us more scholarships to give out ? I personally think Quinn,Tom Smith, Dre Bowles will transfer. Thoughts ???

The initial counter numbers is a bigger issue now then the SEC limit.

From what I can tell that would only effect next year if we use any if these loop holes that seem possible.

Then next year keep using those same loop holes again to keep pushing numbers forward.

Anytime you can sign roughly 20 4-5* athletes, you deserve the No.1 title. That's twice as many as we've signed in some of our previous classes.

Where the class is rated might win a bragging contest, but that is all. I want some new trophies for the cabinet.

6-8 will have to leave in order to make room for everyone who is already
committed. I won't speculate on who, as that is for the coaches and players to figure out.

Doug Matthews just said that 32 will be the number, straight from Butch's mouth to his ear. Said 28 are solid right now, 4 are "fluid". Didn't elaborate who. Also said there's a possibility, not a probability, that there is a D1 player with immediate eligibility who could transfer in the first of the year. Interesting.

Could be http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennessee-vols-recruiting/102917-11-al-qb-jacob-coker.html

Same QB who outperformed Worley at FSU camp. Kinda ironic.

Any ideas of who the transfer could be?
