Take Kiffin back? There is a precedent at UT...

Kiffin is a great OC, but an above average HC. We already have an above average HC

Let me just go on record as saying I don't want Kiffin. I'm just not sure the final verdict is in on him. And blaming him for all of Tennessees problems is kind of like blaming the dude that shot the archduke for all of WW1.

Lane Kiffin is a very good QB coach, he is a good to very good coordinator. He is a average at best head coach. Do not even think about it, I would not even consider hiring him as HC. Now as a coordinator under the right coach, yes sir. But he would never do that anyway and that's fine with me. GBO!!!!

He should've never bolted in the first place. He could've been dominating the east this whole time.

Wait....WHUH...where? :loco:

Joke all you want but Butch is above average. He's not a Dooley. He can recruit well enough to win 8 games or so a season. But he's not good enough to cut it here.

We can admit that and still want him gone, without lying to ourselves and saying he's the worst thing to happen to UT football.

He beat FSU last year like they were an FCS school.
He turned a 3* QB into a run away Heisman winner.
Took the eventual national champs to the wire last year.
Only loss this year is to the defending national champs...

LOL, He also took a team with the best player in the nation and lost 4 games including one to KY.

8-4, 9-4, 8-5, 9-4.....that is what Tennessee is trying to get over........why do we want a 8 to 9 win coach. Sure he has done better, but not since his time at Arkansas and that was in 2011.

If you are trying to make an argument based off last year...........pick someone else to argue for.......no matter what happened last year or who they had....they still went 9-4 losing their last 3 games.

Pertino is a good coach......but why not try for an elite coach.

Kiffin leaving us hanging out to dry resulted in us hiring Dooley in the first place.

"Dickey leaving us resulted us hiring Bill Battle who left the program in shambles and it took Coach Majors ten years to return us to prominence." Said the old geezer in Section Y row 36.

And I could argue Kelly hasn't coached a down of college football in 4 years. But I would still take him or Petrino. Every coach (other than Saban or Meyer) is gonna come with some kind of question marks.

I was a student at UT when Doug Dickey spurned us for Florida. The fan base was just as butt hurt (especially losing the bowl game to the Gators) as when Kiffin left. Yet we eventually took him back as AD, which was a great hire.

Am I campaigning for CLK to return? No, but he would be a hell of a better coach the some of the names of some of the old washed up has-beens like Petrino, Miles and others getting tossed around here.
Who has thrown out Les Miles' name? Link?

And like someone else asked, is Petrino washed up?

BTW, I would take Kiffin or Randy Sanders back.

Great historical analogy.

You need to post more in the political thread.

You would take kiffin or Sanders ........but don't even like the thought of Franklin?

I would actually like to see this. It is beyond impossible though. No way in hell this would ever happen.

After the way Kiffin has taunted UT over the years and telling a reporter once "Excuse me I am relearning the english language after living in Knoxville for a year" And you guys would REALLY consider taking that jackwagon back??...Are you freakin crazy?!?...I hope that SOB never gets to step foot anywhere near Neyland stadium again.

Never said or suggested that. I was trying to figure out which Franklin you guys were talking about. I assumed they were talking about James Franklin.
