I think that the new locker room, players lounge, and every other ammenity should be taken away from our players. I know Fulmer takes alot of the blame but with the droped balls, stupid penalties, fumbles, interceptions, and over all piss poor performances, these kids are spoiled and need to earn the right to take advantage of the frills that big time football has to offer. The quote" I give my all today for Tennessee" falls on deaf ears with this bunch...

I think of Penn St. I love the way Joe Pa runs his program. They dont get any designs on their helmets, nor their names on the jerseys. He has always said " Players don't deserve to have their names on the back of their jerseys. This is a team game, and when you have your name on the back of the jersey it all of a sudden becomes about you" Always loved that about him.

Agreed! If CPF will allow the PUNTER to get back out on the field after that stupid penalty, and let a guy punch somebody while on the ground costing the team 15 more and let him stay in the game, I doubt he'll take the posh life style away.

I guess we should leave a punter that punts the ball 30 yds everytime or gets it blocked. IMO the penalty on Colquitt was crap.

Joe Pa doesn't run the Penn.St program..he's just the face for the program. His coaching staff runs it while Joe Pa sits up in the coaches box drooling on himself.

Have you followed the off field problems they have had this year. He is certainly not the poster boy of discipline.

He has to have some say so, he is the HC. You catch my drift anyway.:good!:

If Nick Stephens can go out there, not throw an interception, or fumble the ball, surely guys that have far more experience can keep their composure. If they cannot, then they need to be on the bench. Cutcliffe knew this, that's why you didn't see this stuff. If CPF would've benched Foster earlier this year when his stupid penalty (from a 5th year Sr. no less), the message might have been sent.

Yeah, I hate for us to have a disiplined football team. One that runs a play until they get it right in practice, one that punishes a player in the following pratice for stupid penalties, (grass drills etc.), one that holds players accountable for their screwups or missed reads and or assignments, one that has a coach that doesn't applaud the good and bad plays the same, one that rewards the players with nice locker rooms and ammenities for leaving it out on the field.

I believe recruits would embrace the fact that when they step foot on campus and give it their all in practice they would be rewarded with the fruits of Tennessee, but when they fall short repeatedly and loose sight of the tradition of Vols football, their forced to get back at it and earn those fruits.

Don't you love it when Phil pats his players on the head like a dog after they've screwed something up.What a tough coach he is.

coaches don't have to be tough to be successful. They do, however, have to have some accountability mechanism.

The only thing they should be taking away is Fulmer's keys to the facilities and his office.

And if you take away their locker room (besides the recruiting impact), where exactly do you suppose the players get ready for games? what happens if there is a injury?

Sounds like Major League to me - "Ball 4, Ball 8, Ball 12....how do these batters lay off pitches this close?"

"Hey Cerrano, Jobu needs a refill."

"Check....please"

Make them dress before they come to the field, They can do Vol Walk ready to play and just get to the field a little later than usual. Hell, put up the Randy Sander Tent and they can dress in it until they start playing better football. They have yet to show improvement at any point this season. I said nothing about the training room, that's a part of the safety for the players.

All I am saying is sometimes a program and or it players and coaches can get spoiled, getting a reapprecation of what they have and what they have to do to keep it isn't gonna hurt a thing.

Pat Summit took away her teams nice locker room and made them dress in another place a few years ago, and it worked for her and that team. I like the idea, and it worked for her. Doesn't mean it would work for football, but at this point I think there is a lot we should at least think about trying to do.

Communists think that way also. People are just numbers and not names...

athletic team situations are much more akin to communist dictatorships than any other form of governance.

Our laissez faire system devoid of infractions for those not performing is proving less than effective.
