Take a look in the mirror..

Y'all ever stop to think about what our competition uses to recruit coaches and players against us? I'm sure one of the low hanging fruits they attack is our miserably toxic, disloyal, and negative fan base. It hasn't crossed most of your minds that these decommitments could be stemming from how unstable we've made our coaching situation appear. These players rarely choose to go to a school because of the school when they're recruited by 15+ Power 5 schools. They go for the coaches. We're throwing these recruiters soft balls because they're pointing at UT saying those guys aren't even going to be there in a couple years. You're delusional if you expected anything more than 5-6 wins on the year with absolutely no offseason development for a team that played 20 true freshmen. I understand we haven't met those expectations but our team faced more adversity this year than other teams of similar build and unfortunately that came down to the luck of the draw. Some of you clowns need to just shut up and be fans. Don't give the program any of your money and do something else on Saturday if it ruins your life that much.

I've seen you Pollyannas throw Butch's players under the bus. I've seen you take Coach Majors and trash his legacy by comparing Bald Battle favorably to him. And I always watch you hold the fans accountable for mistakes made by your Sand Mountain Messiah and his gang of Tuscaloosa Earholers.

But at some point in this year or the next, you will have to hold Pruitt to account for his failure to develop the program. The lack of development and the consequent lack of results are not of fault of fans or players. The failure of this program to mature belongs solely to Bammer Butch.

Maybe you'll get your way, volsdeep, and Pruitt will survive another year to drive this program closer to bottom in this conference. But if he does so, then it will be done with the type of turnover in staff suggesting this program isn't going in the direction it should be in a rebuilding scenario.

That isn't on me. That isn't on you. That isn't on any Tennessee fan griping on radio or commenting on social media. That is all on Pruitt and those who hired him.

Name a program outside of Vandy in the SEC where the fans would be happy with where we are right now...... Fans of every other SEC would be letting their dissatisfaction be known as we are.

No, you shut up. We have already proven we don't develop the talent we get anyway. Enjoy the mediocrity, kid.

Pruitt needs out yesterday

I heard or read that Majors had proven himself before he came back to UT to become head coach, quite unlike CJP.
Proven or not the records are the same. Majors had been a head coach. If Pruitt was truly as bad as many think, then Majors record should have been much better than Pruitt's. I think Pruitt is in over his head but he is learning to be a head coach. He still has a lot to learn but effort is not his problem. One of the reasons he is in a bad mood during press conferences is the fact that he HATES losing.

Comparing Majors record to Pruitts is a useless exercise, different era, game and expectations.

Pruitt isn't learning, if he was learning he wouldn't be losing by double digits to lesser teams. His team would be getting better through the year and not worse.

Some of the worst logic I have ever read, it's amazing the reaches some of you will make to support a terrible head coach. Majors' first three years he went 4-8 vs. their rivals at the time and 7-11 in the SEC. His worst loss was to California with zero gimmies on the schedule other than Vandy who he went 3-0 against. Pruitt's first three years he went 0-9 vs. their rivals at the time and 9-15 in the SEC. His worst loss was to Georgia State with several gimmies on the schedule including Vandy who he is currently 1-1 against. Pruitt's teams are non-competitive in rivalry games. Major's teams were very competitive in their rivalry games including 4 wins and 2 single digit losses. Lots of coaches hate losing but that doesn't magically make you a better coach.

Give me one example of behavior exhibited by Pruitt, that gives any indication that he is learning to be a head coach, and changing his approach when it proves to not work.

I should have known better than say anything positive about Pruitt or the football team now. SMH Forgive me for not being ready to trash the entire football program and burn Neyland Stadium to the ground. I will let everyone go back to the woe is me attitudes. Pruitt does not play in the games. Many of the players are young and make mistakes that they should not make. Part of that is on the coach. Much of it is on the players. Pruitt is in over his head right now. But, he has earned a chance at the job or he would not have been hired. To say he couldn't coach a high school football team is just crazy. It just amazes me how people make comments about the team when no one gets to see the practices. No one knows how many people had to miss practice and no one knows what goes on in practice. We are playing an all-SEC schedule there are not any cream puff games. We lost a couple of games we should have won. It happens. I wish we were undefeated right now. I hate losing as much as or more than most of you. But, I understand we are young, have missed a bunch of meaningful practice time and we make young mistakes. I am sorry I tried to shine a little sunlight on your rainy day parade. Please forgive me!

A highly debatable statement, given that he had zero other HC coaching offers from any other school besides us, and that his hiring was the direct result of a catastrophic coaching search that saw our AD fired, and replaced with someone who is completely unqualified for the job, who gave Pruitt that chance.

Can you point to anything in his resume that shows he earned a HC position at a P5 school? Anything at all?

... wanna change our coach, ad, qb

Just a little nod to The Boss

Our fan base acts exactly the same as any other fan base would if they had fallen from being to an elite team to hot garbage over the course of 12-15 years. Give Bama or Florida 12 years of repetitive kicks to the nuts and see how they react. Winning solves everything

Speak for yourself...I can gaurantee you that not one of those recruits gives a flying F what the fans say...They can see for themselves the UT coaches suck and thats why they decommit...Not because of what some joe blow from bucksnort tennessee has to say.
What if Joe Buck from Blowsnort says it ?

The blame the fans movement reminds me of the 80s when the “Buy American” crowd would shame you if you talked bad about the crappy American cars of that time

Two things. Majors had a National Championship ring when he was fighting to build the program back from some very bad years.

Second and more importantly... today's media and culture does not allow for the "patience" Majors got. But he didn't require quite as much patience. In those 4 tough years starting his tenure at UT, he lost 4 games by more than 20 points. It is very likely if UT plays TAM that Pruitt will have 4 20 point losses in just this one shortened season.

Yeah. Doesn't mean he should have been hired... but he was DC for highly successful teams. Coordinators get promoted and sometimes have success. Pittman's resume is no better. Sweeney's was no better when he got the Clemson job... in fact he'd never been a coordinator.

But that's a pretty minimal part of what should go into choosing a coach and paying him so much money.
