I know we wanted to win this year and probably should have won the O and F game. But we're two great recruiting classes in on a total rebuild. We've got great selling points to young recruits. Let's not go total abandoned on the coaches because young recruits are watching. I'm ready to win and so are these players ... Don't quit on them because they worked there butts off..

thats funny.

people act like we were gonna win the sec. dobbs has been inconsistent his whole career and butch had to rebuild the entire cupboard and stock it. the sky is the limit. we may not get there as fast as many of us want including myself. but butch is our guy like it or not.

he has some things to learn for sure. hope he can make the changes and stick around for a while

The games played out on a chart (no pun intended) the way they did, by leading big early and faltering late. Then we lost on the last play of each game. The early game tells us were "better" and the late game tells us "our staff screwed it up". Therefore, it's even worse than normal losses I think.

Take all the plays of our 2 games and reshuffle them. If we are in neck and nail biters all the way, these two losses may feel a bit less painful. Maybe it makes it easier to see that our roster has improved in most every way and we truly are moving forward talent wise. This group looks nothing like 2011-13 on the field.

We are what our record says we are. That's 0-2 in reality. But, you can rest assured on this one thing ... nobody on our schedule (coach-wise) is looking over us or forward to playing us this year. We are the "2-2" team which looked like playoff contenders in the 1st 3 quarters. A team which gives them little to "win" and a real good chance of losing. We're aint "back" yet, but the writing is on the wall for those not getting myopic (like myself) on our two 4th Quarter egg-laying demonstrations.

Here's hoping that our staff has had a few brain f@rts, but are not actually in over their heads completely on the field. That's the thought that terrifies me at the moment.

Well said Major. There is no other option more rational than to follow your advice. It hurts, but all things pass.

Florida seems to be doing okay.

Doesn't take 7 years..

Just win games. Tennessee is the only school that needs 6 recruiting classes to be able to win.

We're only 2 good plays away from being 4-0 folks so we HAVE gotten better much faster than anyone would have believed.

If our D had made 1 good stop on the last possession that the Gators had then they wouldn't have scored and we would have Won.

If our D had made 1 good stop on the last possession that Oklahoma had then they wouldn't have scored and we would have Won.

Yes, coaches made mistakes and so did our players but that happens to every team in every game.

Winning a Championship or even some games always takes a little luck in football many times.

Tennessee just isn't lucky at all, not since 1998 anyway.

Our coaches will get better and so will our players but I can't promise we'll ever get any good luck, LOL!

We've only played 4 games and those 2 losses really hurt more because we had a good lead and blew it.

Lots more games left to play and I expect we'll get more Wins and be back in a bowl game this season.

I love my Vols and I'll NEVER give up and quit on them!

Quitters never Win and Winners never quit!

after cooling down a bit I'm still closer to this position than nosediving and abandoning all hope.

there were coaching mistakes...but there were also player mistakes...it takes the full team's effort to win these games. If the decision to go for 1 on the last TD has everyone unhinged...ok...but it still would have resulted in a tie at the end of regulation due to poor D on the last UF drive...and that aint 100% on the coaching decisions.

It seems like some on here think the other teams are going to lay down and quit when our VOLS are ahead....that aint gonna happen and logic would indicate that the team losing is going to be more aggressive than the team ahead...you can watch it in multiple games. Thing is, more times than not teams with late leads pull out the games....be it luck, kismet, bad coaching decision, or player execution - and maybe it's a little of all.

Alas, I do concede that it does appear CBJ needs to do a bit of introspective counseling...he could also stand some tough love from a mentor, trusted peer or lieutenant. He needs to learn to win too (at this level), but I do think the coaching may have been good enough to win these 2 games with better execution when it really mattered.

Helps when you inherit a decent amount of talent on the team. Also helps when the coach before the carousel started won two titles.

Listened to Ainge on RTI yesterday and I think I agree with his assessment on Butch.

He's a good coach, not great...yet. But he'll get there. He's a young coach and he's making mistakes. Saban has in the past and like Ainge said, even coaches like Miles still are. Once we win some big games, or the East etc., we all will forget about these mistakes.

Now...that being said, we have to be patient and I know collectively as a fan base, patience has long left the building. But lets sit back, enjoy college football, keep cheering for out team and see what the next move with Butch is. Lets hope adjustments are made and he learns from his mistakes. I think Butch is going to get this ship in the right direction.

1. Nobody's upset with the players, they have our full support, 100%

2. If Jones doesn't stop blowing winnable/already won games in the 4th quarter, the recruiting is gonna dry up.

THIS. As well as playing to advance the lead, and cut some bloody throats, not playing to protect a lead and burn a clock...three off right tackle, and punt. Play ruthless, with no mercy, who cares if we hang 100 on them...?

I was looking something up the other day about Gary Pinkel. He was 4-7, 5-7, 8-5, 5-6, 7-5, and 8-5 through his first SIX seasons at Missouri. He then broke out in his 7th and 8th seasons winning 12 and 10 in those two seasons. In that time he was 20-28 in conference play in the XII. Not too impressive.

Then he went 8-5, 10-3 and 8-5 in the years up until Missouri joined the SEC. He then went 5-7 in his first year and in 2013 and 2014 his teams went 12-2 and 11-3 and got to atlanta.

The key here is patience. I'm not saying we need to wait 6 years for his but Butch needs some time. I know our fanbase is upset about the blown leads and such but let's not all start jumping because it looks bad. Let Butch finish the year out and see what he does. If he goes 8-4 then he meets my number I had set for him. If he is 6-6 or less then he will definitely be on the hot seat.

The hype for this team was real and seems to be rightfully so for the team but the coaches need to learn from their own mistakes. Arkansas is a huge game for Butch. He needs a good showing to win some back.

Patience my friends. It's football. You never know what will happen.
