well like i said, "seems stupid." Mainly referring to the part about one of his first visits going to a 2010 duel threat QB when we currently have a duel threat QB that is better that we are now letting go

Clawson talked mostly about finding playmakers, getting it into their hands, and using 'whatever' offense system would get that done. His system put the ball in the hands of the punter more often than any other system I've seen at UT.

Kiffin is doing the opposite. He's saying this is my system, the quicker players buy-in to it, the quicker it will work. On top of that, he's saying I'm going to find players that fit my system, not the other way around.

Note: I am not trying to blame Clawson for the season. That's history about which I could care less at this point.

I think Clawson was saying what the press wanted to hear. He was referring more to the focus of his plays in talking about getting the ball into playmakers hands.

At that time, he couldn't have known that he was going to be handcuffed by an awful and meddling HC, a disastrous OLine and the worst QB at UT in decades. That sweet little combo would have made Bill Walsh look like an idiot.

I hope and pray he has someone else lined up. I honestly don't know that anybody we have on the roster can be as successful as we want.

I really don't want to debate the last season. But, if CPF was calling the plays against Vandy and KY, our offense did better against them than they did against, say, Wyoming.

You rode Cut like he was a total idiot while putting up 30 points per game with essentially the same O-line.

Pretty sure Drew Brees isn't much taller and is probably slower. Same for Jeff Garcia.

Height is overrated at QB.

He's one of the more accurate passers in the recruiting class, who has a ton of upside, and isn't so much a true "dual threat" as he is more of a guy who can scramble to extend the play and then dump the ball off. One of the best comparisons I can think of is about like Andre Woodson.

I'm simply saying that I don't believe Clawson was the culprit everyone makes him out to be. He worked with an awful set of facts.

I'm sure I rode Cutcliffe to some degree, but he had a respectable QB (albeit an injured and mildly scared one) and masked the OLine problems via scheme. Cut didn't have to deal with Crompton & Co. Otherwise, he would have run it 40 times per night.

I'm not overly interested in the past, but it frustrates me that a coach is getting crucified for doing what his bossing was telling him to do.

There is a reason Coleman wasn't the starter. Did you happen to see the terrible INT for TD he threw at Vanderbilt during his only significant playing time of the season?
