He did an interview with their late show tonight, really seems like a stand-up kid.

Went on to say that he still talks to Fulmer, Tee Martin, and multiple players still on the team. Said Kiffin said he didn't think he would work with his offensive scheme but he was still welcome to join the team and compete for QB (or other positions). Said he didn't know where all of the "dual threat" labels came from as he thinks of his self as a pro style QB and he rarely worked from the shotgun in college.

Wished UT luck and said he harbors no bad feelings for our coaches or the program.

With the way QB recruiting is going with this class I really wish Kiffin would not have steered this kid away.

Did you read what you typed? What am I missing?

Hindsight is 20/20. Kiffin could not have foreseen months in advance that he would be struggling to get a QB in this class. FWIW, I think he would have kept him if he knew Coleman was going to quit 3 months later.

basically what I was getting at was that I wish he would not have steered him away without seeing the kid in person and work him out in person.

I thought I had heard that he was invited to try out for any position but QB. I am surprised by what you heard; and then your comment confused me.

I see your viewpoint on the situation and want to throw my 2 cents in (like it matters...haha). But seriously, if Kiffin didn't see this kid having a legitimate chance at becoming the starting QB, then he did the right thing. A team is all about family, unity if you will. Everyone has to be on board. Now, I'm certainly not saying TB would have had a poor attitude if he wouldn't have ever seen the field, but why have him on if he wasn't? I think what CLK was admirable and what we would want if it were our son in TB's position. The kid is a QB, and wants to be a QB. Obviously, he had chances elsewhere to fulfill his dream of that, and the best of luck to him on the beginning of what could be a promising career. Rather than have him possibly being bitter and bringing down the attitude of the entire team, let's wait until we find the right one for us and give him the keys. Remember when CLK was first hired and attempting to field the staff he wanted? He said be patient and it will all work out. I think we are ALL pleased with how the staff turned out, and let's do the same regarding this position. It's a LONG way from signing day, and if CLK & staff have proved anything it's that they are capable of anything. JMO, but felt necessary. It's GREAT to be a Tennessee Vol.

I'm a lifelong UT fan, and I strongly support what Kiffin did in this case. So what if we "missed" a guy who might have helped us? We couldn't predict that Coleman was going to quit the team.

If the staff didn't think Boyd had a shot being the future QB of the program, I applaud them for allowing him to go elsewhere.

We could have signed the guy KNOWING he wouldn't play QB and he would end up struggling to make the field.

I don't subscribe to the "sign everybody and sort it out later" philosophy at all.

Well wish in one hand and poop in the other and see which one fills up first...

Forgive me for being harsh, but I am really tired of hearing this. Like others in this thread, I believe CLK did the RIGHT thing here and ultimately did TB a favor.. So can we please move on from this, evidently Tajh has....

It's very easy to use the ignore thread feature if you don't want to take part in the discussion.

Make a list of all the things you're really tired of hearing. That way people will know what not to post.We are only here to please you. :good!:

Depends on how well he does at Clemson. If he's successful and our QB(s) is/are not, then it will be non stop TB chatter. If he rides the bench and our QBs are passable then hopefully end of story.

Look, he may end up being a great QB, but Kiffin never had him in camp and didn't like what he saw on film. He did say he can come in and compete. Boyd could have come in a surprised Kiffin and crew, but we will never know.

What I do know is that I actually liked Kiffin being honest instead of telling him he would be a starter, etc...

You would not get that honesty from Urban or Saban or many other coaches.

People wonder why we would take Brunetti and not Boyd. Well, he had Brunetti in camp and he was deadly accurate even on the run. He surprised everyone with his accuracy. Also Brunetti made a lot of friends with a lot of offenisve talent.

Anyway, this is an example of the way coaches shoudl act during recruiting. Let kids know the truth of where you see them and let them make an informed decision.

If I didn't want to take part in the discussion, I wouldn't have expressed my opinion.

Cool, it's good to know you are here to please me and I'll get right to work on that list for you...

It's a MESSAGE BOARD people. Opinion, rumor, speculation, etc. Everybody does it, so don't act like the VolNation speech police...

Because you're not.

:good!:

I can find an easier way for you to avoid the discussion if you prefer. Don't be an ass.

Good grief, whose being an ass? All I did was express my opinion earlier in the thread by saying I was tired of hearing the Tajh Boyd talk. Is that not allowed? Maybe I was a bit harsh with the 'wish and poop' comment (that was actually meant to be humorous), but I was not trying to be an ass.

I give an opinion and get attacked. As far as my response, I still wasn't trying to be an ass. Hell, I was just playing around throwing it back at you. Now I get called an ass.... Boys, I promise you that was not my intent. I guess I need to just realize people can't see my face, or the mood I'm in when I post. Therefore they can't discern my intent.

Like I said before, this is a message board and it's absolutely useless to get pissed off at opinions of people you don't know and can't even see... including mine.

God bless brother and have a good evening.

Saw where Boyd was cleared to practice and has been practicing with Clemson-thought he was out for a while.
