If you ignore this advice and do go, when you see a 6'4" 300+ beast of a football player with 16 or so of his best friends, try to resist any urge you might have to hit him in the back of the head.

This applies even if you feel like he nudges you with his body.
how big a boy is he?

I think we should hold a VolNation tailgate for a select game this coming season. Everyone bring whatever they would like and stuff to compliment the tailgate. Tents, grills, cornhole, tvs, etc. That would be awesome and id be down for it!!!

That would be crazy, but really awesome at she same time.I'm down.

Columbia is just a giant parking lot so they have tons of tailgating room but you're right boring.

Be careful of the open containers at tailgate parties this year. I've heard that kpd is really going to crackdown on any violations they see anywhere in town by issuing citations.

I usually try to do a theme for food as it relates to the team we are playing. For example for Oregon we will be doing roasted duck, Florida ( Fried Gator Meat ) Georgia ( Hot Dogs and Brats ) LSU ( Jambalaya ) South Carolina ( Fried and Grilled Chicken ). When we played UCLA we even did Bear meat and Bear Claws for desert. I also take a TV to catch other college football games while tailgating. Go Vols :eek:k:

Best tailgating locations in the SEC: South Carolina, Florida

Worst tailgating locations in the SEC: Tennessee, Auburn

At auburn, you have to get on campus at 4PM on Friday to reserve a spot

To each their own, but I have been to every campus in the SEC on a football Saturday and other than the Grove (for the women of course) UT is among the best.

Thank you!

There's a reason I frequent VN. It's times like these that I feel rewarded. You just made the upcoming season a lot more tolerable!

Go Big Orange!
don't let the creature get the best of you!

Set up beside McClung Museum.

This is true.

Whoever said there is nowhere nice to tailgate has no idea what they are talking about.

Ask yourself if you want to be able to watch Vol walk.

You mentioned being willing to walk. If you are not getting too drunk to walk safely, it is fun to park for free across the river and walk on the railroad trestles. It is supposed to be illegal, but I have never had anyone hassle me about it. You can also find plenty of room by the soccer complex they set up between the ag campus and TBA. There is even a nifty plume of flame you can watch that is like an industrial size torchbearer statue.

The wooded area above the torchbearer statue by Mcclung has lots of older people with excellent food who are very gracious. If you are dressed in orange camo and are carrying your dip cup in one hand and your whiskey flask in the other, they will nod and wave but they will be scared of you. If you are dressed nicely (but please do not think seersucker is okay) and have your beer in a cup they will be delighted to meet you and will likely offer you some food.

Finally, the newest area I would like to try and have never tried before would be up by all the new construction on the back side of the hill above the park. Seems like lots of green space over there.

Hope this helps
