i normally tailgate on the strip, but i'm looking for a place that actually has grass. the heat during sept get pretty bad on concrete. I have a canopy, but it can only so much.

is there any place close to campus where you can tailgate on grass or under a tree that doesn't the special parking pass?

Fiji Island is the best spot IMO, JMO

Get there either super early or the night before and you will be gtg...they don't ticket for F tag lots on gameday.

I agree on those 2 spots. Mostly because of the trees and grass(where it exists)

I was gonna say, I doubt Fiji island is "family friendly".

Fiji island for sure. Great atmosphere. For the person asking where it was, its the big grass area in front of all of the fraternity houses across the street from TRECS and Tom Black Track.

There's a great place where we started tailgating last year that has grass. Its in between Clarence Brown and the Humanities building. For some reason, there's not a lot of people there and its right next to Volunteer Village with all of their festivities. Its also a short walk to the Vol Walk so you can hop over and hop back before the game starts.

Oh also, there is no parking to speak of so you have to drop offyour stuff and right behind Hess Hall and wheel it 100 ft or so.

That is very close to where my group tailgates. Great area if you ask me.

Its close to everything, its not packed, and bathrooms are nearby. The only thing that sucks is there's no real parking. If you get there early enough you can park on Andy Holt after unloading. That's pretty much the story everewhere though.

why don't they allow more tailgating on the UT campus on game days? At most schools, you can park anywhere on campus, first come first serve.

They have to control traffic. Can you imagine it being worse than it already is getting 100,000 plus people out of there

You van tailgate anywhere but in the middle of a road so I'm not sure what you're talking about
