I am planning on attending the Pitt game on 11 Sep 2021 this fall. It will be my first game at UT and first time at an SEC stadium overall. I'd like to get the "full experience" when it comes to tailgating and pre-game activities and want to hear the best suggestions. I'll likely be arriving in Knoxville Thursday evening, so would like to take advantage of Friday/Friday evening as well. College football gamedays are basically the best thing in the world, and I love going to new stadiums to experience new traditions.
I went to a Clemson game for the first time a few years ago and had a friend of a friend of a friend situation where they invited us to their tailgate and it was a much better experience teaming up with some regulars than anything we could have hoped to put together on our own. We'd be happy to pay for/provide supplies/food/drinks if someone would be willing to be our UT tailgate "mentors". It's unfortunate the game is at 12pm so not a full day of tailgating, but we're very accustomed to starting tailgates pre-dawn when the time calls for it. There would only be 4 of us, so not a big group. I'm looking forward to a new college football experience.
