Jalen Tabor explains Florida just expects to beat Tennessee

From 24-7

"Tennessee, they've got a good program, got a good coach, got a few good players," Tabor told the "Full Ride" show on Sirius XM. "But at the end of the day, if you want to win the East, you've got to come through the Gators. Tennessee is one of those teams like no matter how much they get up on us, we just feel like we're going to win that game at the end of the day.

"Through (the last) two years we've won by two points combined, so that just tells you the drive that we have to win the game. No matter what, no matter how many points they score, no matter how many yards they get, as long as we're up by one point. I think we'll do the same thing this year."

I was about to post a thread on this with almost the exact same title. This is the quote that had me steaming (the end of it mostly)...

"I mean, I don't know how many times you have to beat somebody over 10 years plus in a row for them to just really own up. It's just, I mean, I've never been beaten 11 years in a row by one team or one person, so I wouldn't know how that feels. But it's talked about a lot."

At this point who actually cares. Nothing he says is new information. Honestly, he has a right to believe he will always win because we have not shown reason that we can beat them.

I fully expect us to win this year, but let Tabor run his mouth. All it does is show his infatuation with us and that we are in his head more than he thinks. I'll say again what I posted in another thread, people that run their mouth this much are compensating for something. The teams that truly believe they are better rarely speak out as often as Tabor has. He has some insecurities and is hoping he can get in our head. Team 120 will shut him up soon enough.

The feud has been ongoing all offseason. Florida vs. Tennessee.

There has been no feud whatsoever; just a handful of gators running their mouths and the media trying to take those comments and turn them into a feud.

I hope our guys "act like they've been there" this year while they stomp a mud hole in the gators. There's nothing better than outclassing your opponent all while not taunting them because they're "not worth it." That being said: Hurd standing over a decked Tabor would be amazing!

Hard to disagree with him. I don't know if I've ever felt safe with a lead over UF. Been up 10+ multiple times over the last 20 years to see it disappear.

I want to beat them like Miami Hurricanes of the 80's used to beat up on teams, stomp them and let them know about it, who cares. (don't get ejected or anything) but I would absolutely let them know we are giving it to them the entire game. Hopefully CBJ will not let off the gas..... want this to be a message game to all the rest of the East, this is our conference and you now have to go through Tennessee to get to Atlanta.

We need CBJ and Co. to punish them and make aggressive decisions (ala 4th and goal vs OK) and also put on more steam. Pound their face in. No more being scared and mr nice guy.....on the field!

He was pretty aggressive last year. Two trick plays - the pass to the flat and subsequent pass back that Dobbs took to the house. Then the pitch to Kamara, then throwing to a tight-end.

Did Tennessee use those plays again last season or just for the Florida game?

He and DeBord completely went into a shell when the offense had the chance to put the game away, though.

Old saying "To be the man, you have to beat the man" 24 September: Rumble in Knoxville, I am flying from Arizona to see this game, I'm just saying, every game I have attended.......Vols won.......so there you have it.

Go Vols........gut the gators!

It has made me wonder if god is a gator fan....especially last year with a 13 point lead with less than 5 minutes ..and we still lose.:cray:

Florida players are trying really hard to get in our players' heads and to get a little trash talking going. I think this comes from their coach. I think he knows their chances increase if they can get our guys frustrated and say something back.

If our boys get into a trash talking match buck tooth Jimbo will have something to use as motivation for his team.

I like our team's approach so far, don't even acknowledge it.

As much as I want this dude to shut up--he is right...

In my lifetime--our record against them is 8-25! (since 1965). But there's no mysticism to it...it's just the product of very poor coaching from our staff and a lot of turnovers on our part.

1999--toss sweep on 4th down into the short side of the field....Tee would still be running if we'd have called a bootleg....

2000--dominate the entire game only to allow an 80+ yard drive by the 'turds and then we whine like little brats over a catch....

2006--kicking FGs instead of converting....and didn't get a stop on Tebow on multiple drives....

2012---magical and electric atmosphere in Neyland...and CDD wusses out at midfield on 4th down call....dropped passes.....and better adjustments by the CHUMP beat us...

2014-2015....
Pathetic COACHING pure and simple...better athletes and better UT teams on the field...and WE refuse to adjust to do some LITTLE things that could have resulted in victory....but we choke....

So--Fla has every reason to believe what Tabor is saying--and McElwain went so far to vocalize it last year after the game....The Fla teams from the last 3-4 years are the worst Fla teams I've ever seen on the field.

The ONLY WAY to SHUT THEM UP is to beat the HE:naughty::naughty: out of them and run up the score....hang 50 on 'em this year in Knoxville and have an attitude of nothing less of NEVER being satisfied unless we smack 'em down by at least 14 points.....

And I don't mean that we have to be reckless with a lead and throw high-risk and stupid passes...But good grief--to just run 3 very safe plays for series after series in the 4th QTR with a lead is WUSSIFIED! :salute:

GO VOLS!

You know, they say we talk a lot but in reality we don't compared to FL(mainly Tabor). I love the "a few good players" part. I always feel that the players that talk way to much get shut up. Rousey, McGregor, Cam, etc. I'm proud of our Vols for the most part by keeping their cool and not talking trash. Nothing made me want the W so bad as much as McElwain's comments "you just don't lose to TN."

Yeah, that's true. The drive that was questionable was when Florida got to 21 (second to last possession for UT.) I can kind of understand their mentality. Florida's offense really hadn't done a whole lot all day, there was 4 minutes remaining, and they figured 6 points was a good enough lead. Debord called two run plays up the middle which got stuffed. On 3rd, Dobbs got sacked and they punted. (Had to punt, UT was on their own 15)

Who knows what would have happened if they didn't call those two run plays. They still may have been stopped, but for UT fans I guess them at least TRYING to do something other than power up the middle would have been better.

CBJ made a wimpy decision to trot out the fg kicker on the 6 in. line against OK and kept his 240 lb RB on the sideline.

Against Fl only the best I can remember

For all you old Vols, is this what it felt like when Alabama has an 11 win streak coming into 1982...?

Yes, but no. The streak was horrible, but at least there was no internet where you had to read about it by every single writer across the SEC as well as every wannabe blogger ad nauseum. What did make it bad for me was that at the time I was dating a Bama cheerleader. She really didn't give me grief but her dad and her 2 brothers gave me hell. It was good-natured on their part, but that didn't make it any less aggravating to me.
