T. Evans or L. Coker

Evans couldn’t stay healthy. Coker was electric and could have really been something. Bryce Brown couldn’t get out of his own way or away from his dad. He was probably the most physically gifted out of all of them.

If I remember correctly, Evans didn't attend class and would have been academically ineligible.

Which player would’ve finished with a more accomplished career, Tiyon Evans or Lamarcus Coker? I was very disappointed neither finished their career as a Vol, but both were extremely impressive specimens.

Any other players you can think of who fit that bill? Bryce Brown? I’ll hang up and listen.
Coker could have been nasty.

Coker was waves better. Couldn’t skip the weed.

Is this just for transfers or do injuries count? If the latter is in play I've got Chuck Webb in front by a mile. With zero need for wearing orange glasses I think he's making a run at the Heisman in '90 if not for the injury against Pacific. He was that good.
Chuck Webb was the best RB to ever play for the Vols. That knee injury was tragic.

I think Coker was more talented. He had some really talented guys to share carries with though. Evans didn’t share a backfield with slouches himself, would have contended with Small, Wright, and eventually Sampson for touches.

I’m not sure Evans was ever really especially talented (he was somewhat talented but I don’t think he was a special talent) or if he just benefited from the system being new and no one knowing how to defend us. You rarely see backs with Coker’s speed though. Most years there probably isn’t a back in college football who has his straight line speed.

Coker.

There’s going to be some degree of recency bias with some regarding Evans since it was only a few years ago, but it would have been Coker [by a margin].

I was at that game. The weather was horrible and it felt like Marshall was hanging around. That run was the nail in the coffin.
I think that weather would have had to improved to be labeled horrible. We left 50 minutes before kickoff to buy dry clothes. They moved 90K drenched people into the damp / humid concourse to avoid the lightning. It was gross.

Went to Calhouns before the game and had to sit outside. Got the beer cheese. So much water that it ended up practically floating. I wore sandals and nearly ended up sober and shoeless. Homecoming maybe?

Ran into an elderly gentleman and his wife on their way back to the car and caught the best seats I’ve ever had for 10 dollars total for 2 tickets. He said they couldn’t deal with it wanted the 10 dollars to soothe his ego.

The player that reminded me of Coker more than anyone was Eric Gray, which ended on a sour note as well.

Looks like Coker was never able to get his life back on track. Somehow he ended up in Alabama.
