I remember the others, but North Texas? The infamous "What is a Rutger?" And don't forget Army. Found it, Tennessee was coming off a 30-7 Loss at Birmingham (bama) was beaten up and obviously not focused. 2 turnovers gave NTexas a short field for 2 TDS (one Int on the 8) and a fumble on the ensuing kickoff! Future Iowa Legendary coach Haden Fry was coaching North Texas. Bill Battle took the loss. Turns out NTexas was pretty good ,as they won out after that big win at Neyland. Tennessee was just not that talented back then, a few great players; Stanley Morgan, Mickey Marvin, but not a lot of top players like Alabama had. Bear had more resources.....I can remember many a team that stood "no chance" vs UT. N. Texas St, Rugers, Memphis, Ga State, etc all popped us. On any given Saturday....
He does have a big upper arm considering the rest of his body size. He supposedly has a cannon. I just hope he takes what the defense gives him and makes the right quick decisions. If so, the sky is the limit for him with very good pass protection and very good WR play!I will say one thing about Joey. He HAS a Man's arm.
Possibly, it will depend on Angeli's supporting cast. He is the real deal. But, Syracuse lost a lot of players last year that were big contributors. The ACC is still pretty weak. So, UT should take care of business as long as they don't have 3 or more turnovers which Heupel's offenses don't have!If Tennessee comes out flat, makes mistakes, and plays bad while Syracuse plays well, then, yes, Syracuse could win. They are probably in the top 5-6 teams on our schedule. They aren't Alabama or Georgia but probably better than UK, Vandy, Miss State, and Arkansas.
I don't think they are better than those 5 SEC teams. If so, UT better come to play and limit mistakes. I say UT wins 34-13! UT's D is going to be great again!!! The only reason I am saying they get a TD is becuase it may be likely for UT to turn the ball over in it's own territory being game 1 or the D gives up a big play on a missed assignment. Other than those two possibilities, the D is going to play great!!!If Tennessee comes out flat, makes mistakes, and plays bad while Syracuse plays well, then, yes, Syracuse could win. When was the last time we put up 38 on P4 school?
It’s weird that none of those other 8 starters we lost were a real loss, but the majority guys rode the pine behind them. The only real loss on offense from last year was Sampson and the trio of RBs we have this year can produce numbers that are similar because we have better depth. It will be hard to replace Nico though as I am not sure JA can overthrow the WRs like he could so he was better at that.
Last year they gave up 38 to BC and 41 to Pitt and UNLV. Don't see a lot of improvement made on that side of the ball. I don't see them stopping UT's offense, even with a new QB. They should still be able to ran at will against them. They may not score 40-plus but will control the game with the ground game.Cuse had a bad defense last year on a team that relied heavily on offense to win games. I don't see their defense improving much at all. Surely UT can score more than 24 points.

I think we are worse at receiver. Thornton, Bru, and Squirrel did not amass some huge amount of yards, but the same people saying we improved there would have been pissed a year ago if you told them what the passing game was gonna look like last year. Given their inability to stay healthy in the offseason or to catch balls in routes against air, I am concerned with that position.Well I can see you are trying to make a point here but have failed...miserably. On the offensive line no one that "road the pine" last year is starting this year except for Jesse Perry. We have three new starters that were not here last year (More, Pendleton and David Sanders) and a healthy Lance Heard. Moe and Pendleton both graded higher than any outgoing OL. For the WRs...we lost Bru who was a strong WR but painfully slow and struggled to get separation. We lost Squirrel White who played all year with an injured arm and fell down every time he caught the ball. We replace them with a 5 star Mike Matthews and 4 star Braylon Staley. In addition to Amari Jefferson. Do you really think we can't match the production of Bru and Squirrel? Tell me where are we WORSE off this year on offense?
Alright broThe game before Nico started at QB! ENOUGH SAID! They also did it 21 times in 3 seasons before Nico went behind the center! It will be a better offense with Aguilar this season! You can bank on it! Nico is all show and no go! People are going to see this year that him leaving was a blessing in disguise!
They added a former OSU starter and NFL draft pick at QB going into last season. Not only have they lost him but they have also lost their best QR, WR, TE, RB, and most of their OL on offense as well as their best Edge and Interior DL (former to the draft - 4th round, latter to the portal - Texas). That's the perception, but was it viewed any differently after going 6-7 and going into year 1 under Fran Brown? No one could have thought Syracuse would go 10-3. Maybe the same applies this year too. Maybe that coaching staff is really good at identifying under the radar talent and squeezing the most out of that. Maybe not. But, there isn't enough known about Fran Brown as a coach to count it out in my opinion. Be ready for anything.
It really isn't as different as you are trying to portray it as. No one thought McCord was any good after leaving Ohio State. Their top WRs weren't on the roster. Their TE was coming off injury and was transitioning from being a WR. Their DE was from the transfer portal. Etc. The one player that did return was their RB.They added a former OSU starter and NFL draft pick at QB going into last season. It's just not the same thing.
