I mean, so does Vegas, but the odds are against the notion.

How much offense are we replacing in Niko, Dylan, receivers, Oline? 9000?

The only real loss on offense from last year was Sampson and the trio of RBs we have this year can produce numbers that are similar because we have better depth. It will be hard to replace Nico though as I am not sure JA can overthrow the WRs like he could so he was better at that.

They think they have a chance because they do. We’ve seen our team pull no-shows and play flat/lifeless before, so it wouldn’t be a huge shock if Syracuse wins. Still don’t know how our QB and WRs will perform this year.

But if Tennessee plays at the level it can, the Volunteers *should* win comfortably.

They definitely have a chance they won as many games as we did last year and have a good coach. We got alot of questions on our team and this won’t be an easy game like alot of fans think it will be. We got a better defense and more talent and we should win but it’s not a guarantee. If we lose we are quite possibly looking at being 2-3 headed into October so this game is a must win. I am very concerned about our offense headed into the season.

Many are overlooking the job Fran Brown did for Syracuse last season. Syracuse was coming of a 6-7 season getting blown out by USF 0-45 in their bowl game. They didn't have much going for them going into last season but still went 10-3. So, despite losing their top QB and #1 receiver, I wouldn't be surprised if they find the pieces to still perform at a high level..

Angeli winning the QB competition does concern me. He must have performed well with clear separation to be named starting QB over Rickie Collins, who was named starter in Spring camp.
They lost all of their talent from last year's team and didn't backfill much if any of it

They definitely do have a chance. I'm expecting a low scoring game. Vols win 24-17. Those kinds of games are dangerous.
Cuse had a bad defense last year on a team that relied heavily on offense to win games. I don't see their defense improving much at all. Surely UT can score more than 24 points.

That's the perception, but was it viewed any differently after going 6-7 and going into year 1 under Fran Brown? No one could have thought Syracuse would go 10-3. Maybe the same applies this year too. Maybe that coaching staff is really good at identifying under the radar talent and squeezing the most out of that. Maybe not. But, there isn't enough known about Fran Brown as a coach to count it out in my opinion. Be ready for anything.

The thing that worries me the most is the fact that teams are never fully gelled in their first game and it will be doubly hazardous for us considering that Augulari and the rest of the offense have never had one single game time snap together. I hope the process of getting familiar with one any other goes quickly.
Trying to remember the last time we started a season with a QB1 that had never taken a snap for UT. Was it Milton in 2021v

We will, they are replacing basically all their skill talent from last season. I don't see them getting to 20 points on our defense. Our D-Line will dominate

Syracuse has a coach that knows how to coach and get the most oitnofnhis team, just like us.

They have a QB that has some college experience...may not be as much as our guy, but still experience.

Where we win is in 2 places. Our defense and IF our RBs have matured and become patient in the game.

So, YES, they have a chance.
I'm not looking past them, but believe the good guys win out.

I can remember many a team that stood "no chance" vs UT. N. Texas St, Rugers, Memphis, Ga State, etc all popped us. On any given Saturday....
