They have a 40,000 seat stadium not even close to their campus. It is in the tarmac of a closed airport next to a Bass Pro Shops/Cabelas. There is almost no football talent in Connecticut or other New England states. Almost all about hockey and lacrosse.I do find it funny UConn doesn't get interest from a Power league. They have a great brand (mostly basketball but you feel like they should be in a stronger league. I think they were once in the Big East with Syracuse, Pitt, etc.).

With basketball, they got a great coach for both teams and there is some New England basketball talent. When the Big East started out, they were the dregs of the league with Seton Hall. ESPN, though, televised tons of Big East games so they got on national TV frequently. They got lucky with the Hartford Civic Center which didn’t have a pro basketball team and lost the Hartford Whalers WHA/NHL pro hockey team. Got low rent for games that were not played at their in campus smallish Pavillion. Apparently, Brett Yormack who is commissioner of the Bug 12 tried to get them in, but the schools in the Big 12 just won’t take them because of their low level football situation.Basketball too apparently. UConn has been, arguably, the strongest Men's and Women's program the last 25 years.
