Sweet mercy John Adams on Finebaum

While Petrino and Schiano skeletons are a little different we as a fanbase can’t cry foul to lack of integrity with a schiano and hire a Petrino

A little different? More like a lot different!!! One satisfied secretary vs. a bunch of destroyed children.

OK, successful head coaching experience would be a big plus. But success not in the "overall record" sense, but the "trajectory" sense. Someone who took a program and built it up, even if they had modest success at first.

Brohm is 10x the coach Butch is. Still, need more experience.

this every day. I don't think many realize how bad Purdue was. My wife's family are all Purdue grads so I've endured some Purdue games over the last few years. Not surprisingly this year they were way more fun to watch than UT games.

No slam dunk hires out there, IMO. And probably none that are eager to jump into a dumpster fire, which we are yet again. I want a hungry, proven asst who has been around championship, big-time football but isn't unethical/amoral about getting there. A true leader of real men. Who, you ask?... Heck I wish I knew... but the ooh, ahh factor does not necessarily mean a great coach. Ask Clemson how they found their coach.

I'm about ready to say Tee Martin.

Given the circumstances, Brohm may be the best option and could end up being a steal.

No to Petrino - at some point we have stop correcting bad decisions with another bad decision. No more low character, integrity issues.

I could see keeping Currie at AD but others such as Fulmer, etc ultimately leading the search to get the best coach we can get.
Only open to this so they can focus on hiring a coach now and replacing an AD shortly after.

Of course they're different but that doesn't change his ultimate point. We cannot hire Petrino. Would be eviscerated for being wishy washy with our moral high ground.

Why? Cuz Petrino drove some hottie on his motorcycle and gave her a job? Big deal. Petrino would be a great coach.

I can handle a coach with baggage after dealing with Butch and Dooley, as long as said baggage does not have something to do with 40 kids being raped

You gotta add budget dollars for a P coordinator for Petrino too, though

Not a problem. Tennessee has fully staffed and funded Volleyball and Softball teams ready to go. Consent forms will be sent out, signed, notarized, and collect before he gets to campus.

Sorry VNers, but no quality coach is going to consider UT with all these problems. The AD may not even survive the night. Until the UT Administration, the Athletic Dept. and major boosters are in alignment, no coach with any options is going to touch us. Wish it weren't so, and would love to be proven wrong, but it is what it is.

I'm not looking for teetotalers and 40 year old virgins. I just don't want people associated with child sex crimes. We're hardly setting the bar high by not wanting Schiano.

No defending either one and both are wrong because of both situations

That's like saying that our grandparents shouldn't have supported Ike and Patton during the war because they were adulterous philanderers and were therefore just as bad as the Nazis.

Adams did well on finebaum until he mentioned Petrino. Wtf man.

No he didn't. He completely embarrassed himself when he couldn't remember the term "Memorandum of Understanding." MOU

The lead reporter for this story needs to remember the details.

What a mess.....

Exactly right. At this point, if I were calling the shots, I'd fire Currie and hire Blackburn or Fulmer as the AD and let them make the hire. Currie has lost the fan base. No sense in playing games and hoping for a "big, expensive, explosive hire" as it's an impossibility at this point. No chance any coach of substance signs to work for an AD that everyone knows has burned bridges less than a year on the job.

At this point, our coaching options are going to be very limited. UT is a toxic situation right now. Not a lot of options. We will have to take a Google coach, coordinator or someone with baggage and hope we finally get lucky.

You are probably right. I imagine Kevin Sumlin is feeling pretty low right now. If we took the steps you mentioned, and had coach Phil reach out to him, who knows? I like that he's faced the fire at a big program and whipped Bammer too. Since our options appear to be limited, just saying...

Make Currie use a real search firm, include serious input from people like Phil and Peyton. Let Currie sign off but not drive the search. He's proven he is NOT up to the task.

If what is being reported about him supporting the hire is true, ol #16 might need to sit this one out.
