Brohm would be okay in my book... not great, but okay. Purdue has won a combined 9 games the past 4 years, and he has them bowl eligible already. They lost to a bunch of 8+ win teams by close margins, one of those being an undefeated Wisconsin. The only bad loss was a 14-12 loss to (ironically) Rutgers.

As far as Kiffin goes, like it or not he took a 3-9 FAU team devoid of any elite talent and immediately turned them into a 9-3 team undefeated in conference play. They also lost to an undefeated Wisconsin team, a decent Navy team, and mediocre Buffalo.

If we're looking for someone who can coach football - and are willing to put personalities on the side and/or swallow our pride- it's Leach, Kiffin, and Petrino.

I wouldn't let Currie make this hire at this point. Hamilton gave us Dooley in the exact same circumstances. He was lame duck when he made that hire. You get this guy out, hire a interim = Fulmer then make your hire.

Make Currie use a real search firm, include serious input from people like Phil and Peyton. Let Currie sign off but not drive the search. He's proven he is NOT up to the task.

Love it but who's doing this firing? Uhhhhhh.....crickets.

I have tweeted and emailed so many people but for what? So we can eventually hire Haslam's second choice?

Petrino and Layne are seriously damaged goods. I do NOT want my AM and favorite team to wallow around in another dumpster fire.

I agree and if you really are an old school Vol, you detest Bama. There's only one coach that can give Saban fits present day and it's Kiff.

Players, recruits, and fans woud know they were not long-term kinda coaches. They have serious flaws and would not wear well.

I guess.. Maybe it is hopeless. The whole structure of how they do things needs to be changed or it seems to be a losing battle. I also think coaches don't really like the way they run things here, that's why we can't get a good coach to come..

No slam dunk hires out there, IMO. And probably none that are eager to jump into a dumpster fire, which we are yet again. I want a hungry, proven asst who has been around championship, big-time football but isn't unethical/amoral about getting there. A true leader of real men. Who, you ask?... Heck I wish I knew... but the ooh, ahh factor does not necessarily mean a great coach. Ask Clemson how they found their coach.

While Petrino and Schiano skeletons are a little different we as a fanbase can’t cry foul to lack of integrity with a schiano and hire a Petrino
