Im wanting to make my first trip to the Swamp this year. None of my friends will go .. Is anyone else interested?

Good luck in your search! If I was still in K-town I would be totally down for a road trip to the swamp. Heck, who wouldn't?

Don't let anyone scare ya from going to the Swamp, but definitely try not to go alone. And if you do, make some friends with those who did make the trip once you're down there and you'll be fine.

I'll be down there with bells on with my wife and our Gainesville native/Gator fan freinds. It will be my third time; once as a Nole and twice as a Vol. Stay away from frat row. Be nice, until it is time to not be nice (thank you, Jack Dalton).

One thing I have found useful is if you can partner up with some Gator freinds/acquaintances who can look out for you. The advantage is twofold; you are desensitized to the insults because you are immersed in them, and people are far less likely to throw a cup of whizz when they see the spray pattern will blast one of their own. Try to find some older UF fans to go with; ones who can tell you who Kerwin Bell is, and who are from no further south than Ocala and no further north than Richmond, VA.

The piss cup incident has really led to an inductive conclusion that this place is the worst for opposing fans. I've seen worse fans at Auburn, the Orange Bowl, and Tuscaloser.

I will be making yet another trip to that cesspool this year.

If you keep your mouth shut and keep your head on a swivel you should be fine...

Wrong year to be going down there...With kiffin's comments this season the fans will be at a fever pitch and nobody in orange and white will be safe...I would rather drink clorox than go back to that hellhole.

This might be the year that it actually comes close to being as bad as all the drama kings like to proclaim. You can blame that on your coach. That said, the frat boys usually don't mess with older folks. I used to get harassed when visiting other stadiums, but now I am 45 and it rarely happens. Other than the typical cheers and jeers from the home fans, which is all in good fun.

Been there 3 times...even the promise of 40 virgins wouldn't be enough to make me go back...

Agree...ordinarily the Swamp crowd is warm, friendly, and welcoming, but Kiff ruined it for you.

VolinMiami, I will pick you up at Broward Bl. and I95 the friday night before the game- I'll bring the Clorox.

I've been to the last 4 in Gainesville and never had a problem. Insults sure, the occasional belligerent drunk sure, but all in all I have a good time every year. I've found that most issues are in the tailgating areas near frat row. I do go with a mix of gator and vol fans so it could be that we're left alone by trouble makers because we're all pretty big and there is a good mix of fan allegiances.

2 trips, 2 wins for which I take full credit! With that said however, Gainsville is not quite like hell, hell has fewer jerks and is not as humid! :naughty:

The accounts of piss throwing are urban legends (no pun intended). I have been going to games at the Swamp since the late 70's and I have never once seen anyone doused with piss. I've never met any opposing fans who have experienced that. Are there drunk jackasses? Sure. Loudmouth frat boys? You bet. Unless you are drunk and walking around asking for trouble, the most you might hear is the occasional "Gator Bait" or "Your team sucks". I have been to many Tennessee games on the Swamp and I have always had good experiences with Vol fans.

When we were there, the student section threw cups of beer on us. One hit an elderly man in the face and split his nose. They were a bunch of heathen butts. Note: The nicest fans I have encountered were South Carolina's.

Been twice, never had a problem, of course we got throttled both times. Once though we were up big in the 2nd quarter, and then guess what happened???

I'm going, as I have for the last decade or so. Mr. Two Bits, I have seen the piss cup throw with my own eyes so please save your holier than thou crap for your own board.

Zasnow, you're welcomed to join up with us, I go with young gator alum so we have a really good time, and it would certainly be nice to have another Big Orange Brethren with me.

I like how UF fans think it really bothers us that our coach made it harder on us to go to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Ohhhhh we are really going to get it now. Whatever.

That wasn't beer...

and I agree with the SC fans. They are also a nice bunch when they visit Knoxville (and the best tippers)
