Swain saying Randy Shannon to UT. Rumor

I told someone this earlier............he is a good coordinator, but look at the guys he had running the defense in those years. It was an NFL factory at that point. Ed reed, DJ williams, Sean Taylor, etc.....the teams they were playing were nowhere near the talent in the SEC.

No doubt he had talent. But so did a lot of other great coord.(chavis)

Please let us know about good defenses and coordinators that don't have good players.

but on the flip side he recruited them...tennessee is a recruiting paradise waiting with the right coach. shannon is that coach. especially with our new facilities and that stadium of ours

Keyword being "may". Just saying we may not want to sharpen the pitchforks and gas the matresses just yet. I don't have one bit of inside information and don't know anything. The guy that posted about Dooley's left-sided part may be the guy in the "know". I'm not, but hope UT saw the writing on the wall with JW and has a DC hire prepared to stop any further recruits from jumping ship in the short term.

I caught the may part to late I have went back and changed the post.

Ok I want to believe but I can't. Did someone see him at the sandwich shop??? If you spoke to him at the deli...I'm in...

I heard Chavis told media earlier this year that he never had the level of talent in Knoxville on par with what he curently has in Baton Rouge.

That is saying a lot

Stop.

Shannon is not as well thought of down there as you think. He didn't win at Miami. He has relationships built, but to say you will "own Miami" with the big 3 still there is a bit over the top.

Big 3? There is the U and FSU down there but what is the third "big"? USF has done well lately but I would not count them as one of the "bigs" quite yet?
Anyhow, one of the main reasons why Shannon would be a great hire at UT is that he would not have to spend any time learning to hate the gators.

Not doubting anyone and not saying anyone is a troll or liar; however, Tim Reynolds, AP reporter, is writing that his contacts are saying that Tennessee hasn't even spoken with Shannon. Take it all for what it's worth, but just wanted that out there.

Sure. Just like Urban Meyer hadn't had any contact with Ohio St:birgits_giggle:

Not what he said. He said that Shannon hasn't been hired, iirc, which is correct. Pretty difficult to get vacationing attorneys and agents to do a quick contract on a holiday weekend

Just a little info for you.. Universities generally talk through agents to save face in case they are shot down. May or may not be the case here.

No, the exact quotation was "...the Vols have not even talked to Shannon. They may -- but haven't." In reference to a person familar with the Tennessee process. Like I wrote earlier, I just wanted to make sure that was posted. Not saying anyone is right or wrong, just wanted to make sure people read that.

Ok so Shannon's track record as DC speaks for itself. But is there proof he can recruit? Or atleast better than Wilcox?

Per Rivals:

2007 - 19
2008 - 5
2009 - 15
2010 - 16

The 08 class was a much heralded class at the time. Jacory Harris and Arthur Brown were a part of that class. Can't tell ya why that class never lived up to its billing because I don't follow UM football closely.
