Swain saying Randy Shannon to UT. Rumor

This may have already been mentioned, didn't read all the posts, but Baggett had "associate head coach title" didn't he (an Joseph with recruiting coordinator) ? Possibility of justifying a large salary and take some of the sting of downgrade from HC to DC by giving DC and associate head coach title? Would be weird if the Wilcox thing was known for a few weeks as a likely possibility and Shannon has been contacted for a while and Dooley had the extra carrot of that title. I think Shannon was shortly rumored for Arkansas DC in early December. Who knows, prob another rumor thread to get our hopes up then dashed.

Would be hard to believe the Wilcox stuff has been brewing for a while b/c Washington didn't fire their DC until Dec. 31st.

Also a possibility they were looking around for a sure upgrade before firing him. We really don't know for sure, but these things getting nailed down in 2-3 days usually doesn't happen.

Gotchya, didn't mean Washington job in particular with all the other rumors though. Meant DC backup plans etc. but been out of contact for a few days. Thanks

Allow me to dream for a moment...

The U gets leveled by penalties soon, receiving penalties similar to USC (get out of school free card), ala Malik Jackson.

Perhaps a couple of stud players would be interested in reuniting with their former head coach who recruited them? :loco:

And they had their replacement by the next business day. That weekend was enough time to set up things for Shannon, as well. Considering that Wilcox has been mentioned for numerous jobs in the last month, I would say that would be enough to force a contingency plan.

They're rugby team is crazy good! Some of our boys just came back and loved it They actually got in some of the games with the Maties. I cannot wait until I get my chance to go.

yes, as i mentioned earlier...thy have known for a few weeks. in fact vols have been in touch for a few weeks with shannon, i was contacted the night they contacted dools cause "no name" was super pumped....now i need to get this clear but i think regardless dools was going to go after shannon and weed out wilcox. i may be a little off on that. but yes it has been in the works for a few weeks. i remember this from dec 16 i think when i was headed to canada to visit

I read this as you implying Dooley was basically forcing out Wilcox.

I will be shocked. Would be one of the best hires of all time for an assistant coach - there are so many positives with Shannon. And I wouldn't worry too much about any NCAA sanctions against him. UM, yes. RS, not so much.

South Africa is a beautiful country. Stellinbosch as you know sit outside of Cape Town which is one of my favorite cities I have ever been to. Majestic. Stellinbosch is a wealthy wine country. I actually met Miss South Africa there. Been a few years back. She stayed in Stellinbosch Inn also.
