Swain is Debbie Downer re: TAMU game

When is the last time we have got blown out? Hell, when is the last time we lost by double digits? This will be a close game all the way through people.

Worst possible case scenario is having Hurd, Kirkland, Sutton, JRM out for A&M game.....Vols winning this game is a long shot at best.......Vols secondary will get a workout to say the least
Go Vols

Hahaha..,you're too funny to be serious....welcome to the board....so you're saying we have a dumb coaching staff? Now that's precious right there...hahaha!

How else do you explain the putrid first halves?

We run a different offense when we're down. We actually start throwing it downfield rather than those stupid screen passes. We also start throwing on first down. Something we never do when we're tied or ahead.

Butch Jones and DeBord are the reason for the slow starts. They are conservative to a fault.

In the first half against Florida we dropped 2 passes that would have been touchdowns. We dropped 3 down the field passes that would have been first downs. We didn't run anything different in the second half.

Please don't ask me to explain that. Well I see someone took a shot at it above me there. I really thought you were kidding, I guess. I don't know you well but posting something like that is just SO out of bounds its got to be a joke. Hopefully you see that....If not...enjoy the ride from your side I guess...

Agree, and I'm not the only one. Ainge said the same thing. Debord called an equally good offense in the first half as he did in the second. The difference was execution....we dropped 6 balls in the first half....6!

In the second half our guys caught everything. Dobbs too was equally good both halves despite the announcers talking about his 8-22 first half....if Wolf and the others hadn't dropped everything under the sun in the first half he'd have been 14-22 with a couple tds. No, the Florida game isn't a good example of Debord and Jones calling a tight, conservative first half while opening up the offense in the second....there are other examples, the Florida game wasn't one of them.

My strategy would be rely on D-line. Substitute freely. We are deep there. Play back on D - no quick or cheap strikes. I think Knight will make mistakes sooner or later if you make them short pass and force long drives. Need to match drive for drive. Keep Dobbs open to run for first. Some early down passes and some misdirection.
As game proceeds I think D-line can begin to wear them down.

42-24 UT!

Well were not expected to win so that should take some pressure off our players. They can just go out play hard!

I still think we can win but we have very little margin for error.

Says he's been doing a lot of Tamu film study.
Says this is a terrible matchup for us.
Says we will miss Sutton, JRM, and DKJ more this game than any other we have played.
Says this will be best rushing attack we face.
Both with stable of RB's and a running QB.
Says Bob Shoop has impossible task.

Says the Jalen Hurd situation has been handled horribly.
But, he wouldn't say if it's really injury or not.
Doesn't expect Hurd to play, though.
Says Kelly has to get some quality yards to spell Kamara.
Says Tamu rested all of their banged up last week.
Says we match up much better with Bama than Tamu.

Wish I had slept late instead of listening.
But, won't put my head in the oven just yet.
Hope that Swain is wrong and we somehow come back from Texas 6 & 0. :good!:

His show thrives on drama - he is probably loving all this.

I do not see where these media are getting this from..

When I look at personnel match ups, there are only a couple spots on the field that are worrisome..and they are not critical areas.

IMO, people are giving TAMU much more credit for their wins then they should, and under valuing what UT has done.

I guess we will see on Saturday who is correct.

This is the same thing the media was saying about the Florida match up and prior to Georgia getting slammed by Ole Miss - they were saying this about Georgia as well.

The sooner folks realize that some folks thrive on putting this team down and understand who those folks are the better they are equipped to understand who to listen to and who not to.

It is not that the folks don't like the team - they don't like the coach and their claws come out anytime they feel there is something they can complain about.

So, pound for pound, TAMU's defensive front is that much better than UF? I'll hang up and listen.

FWIW it's not their D that makes me nervous about this one. It's our D (minus 3 playmakers) in that venue against a team that can move the ball. If we come out slow it's hard for me to believe we pull another one out in this situation.

They are not the offensively challenged Bulldogs or Gators. Just need to come out keeping pace or even take a small lead for a change...but 21-0 would not be good on Saturday

You are way off on this man...Swain never said it was an impossible task, nor did he say its a bad match up.

He did say that both teams are ALOT alike and that with our key Defensive guys out, Shoop will be "earning his money". Which I agree with. I honestly feel better about Bama than A&M. We are playing at A&M, missing key guys, going against Chavis plus a high octane offense. I lean toward A&M winning this, but I think we can and hope we can win this one. I will definitely be drinking heavily during the game. Lol

I will say this though, if we can play 4 FULL Quarters, we win this game, but if we get down early....it wont be good.

I'm pretty sure that Seth is a poster on this site.
I kind of like Seth.
Yes, he is very young and that sometimes shows.
But, he works very hard and he loves the Vols and hates UGA (like I do....lol).

I heard Seth say he was a Kentucky basketball fan today.. Seth is a tool and should be banned from the TN campus and all local sports media. Screw any douche that is a "TN football but Kentucky basketball fan"

Bwahahahahahahahahaha......that wasn't me at all. I hate UK. C'mon now.

I see another important point manyre overlooking. Its extremely rare that Tennessee play's in a stadium bigger than Neyland. Thats going to add to the difficulty.

Do not waste your time expecting a logical discussion about Tennessee football with D4H. He is the definition of a bandwagon fan and a troll.

Neutralize Knight's running and we win. If he gets loose we are in for a long day. He is not an accurate passer. For all the people that complain about Dobbs' accuracy, Knight is much less accurate than him. I haven't looked at the stats but if I had to say he's probably not even completing 55% of his passes. At least Dobbs is a career 60% passer and to be honest th first couple of games, the receivers have dropped a lot of passes so Dobbs' percentage is a bit skewed. We definitely have the QB advantage which generally means you have the edge overall. "Better QB, Better Football, TN Vols" - Papa Johns
