Swain is Debbie Downer re: TAMU game

Their freshman rb who's averaging 9 yards per carry, who has more carries for more yards and more tds is playing. Plus, I see Ford listed as questionable, not out.

Per what I'm reading this morning they are saying Ford will play. Here's a quote on the other three.

"RSJ is still out. They still aren't sure about Myles and London"

Guys, we have an impossible task ahead of us. There is no way we can go in to South Bend and beat Notre Dame. They are coached by the great Lou Holtz and they are just too good. As I recall, we won that game.
We have a terrible match up in the Sugar Bowl. We can't beat Miami. There athletes are better than ours. They are coached by the great Jimmy Johnson. They have the current Heisman trophy winner and they have about 20 top NFL prospects on there team.
As I recall, we won that game also.
"IF" we come out a play from the first play of the game, then we will win the game. "IF" we sleep during the first half, we will have a huge deficit of 28 or 35 points and won't be able to overcome that.

Yup, it's why they go ahead and play the game instead of just declaring the winner by who the sports prognosticators say.

Mostly good. Bo Jackson was the Heisman winner that year tho.

If I recall correctly that 85 game in Knoxville with the Barn didn't go so well for Mr. Jackson. Tony Robinson looked like a Heisman winner that day :)

Why is he saying the situation has been handled poorly and that he doesn't think Hurd will play? How can anyone say it's been handled poorly without knowing all the facts?

Swain has enhanced access to the program as an ex-player, but he only will report on things that are available to the media. In the past whenever he has wanted to speak about things he really shouldn't, he makes comments like these...

My guess is that Hurd is being disciplined internally for something related to the fumble and aftermath... he hasn't responded well to it, and Butch is considering holding him out.

** This is my fast-take opinion based on the OP's recount of Swain's words. I would not take this as absolute truth by any means. **

Let's face it,We will be underdogs for the next two games, and possibly rightfully so. It certainly will give the team motivation. If in fact we lose this saturday, the team will be even that more fired up against alabama. I for one would trade losing to a&m every day for a win against alabama.

Why be scared? Hell, they can't eat us! They are a great football team but so are we. Are they better? They prob are judging by what we've seen so far but look at it this way, last year WE were the better team vs OKL, UF, and Arky but who won those games?

We honestly don't know who is better because this early in the year we don't know how good the teams are that UT/aTm has beaten. Ive been worried about the match-up in this game myself but the more I've thought about it team 120 has earned our faith in them vs ANY team in the nation. We may win or we may get boat raced but at the end of the day this UT team is good enough that we shouldnt fear anybody!

Trevor Knight is about 50% completion with 7TDs for the year. What's everyone so scared of? Sure their D is improved. But they have played South Carolina and Prairie View A&M. Carolina may be the worst offensive team in CFB

Says he's been doing a lot of Tamu film study.
Says this is a terrible matchup for us.
Says we will miss Sutton, JRM, and DKJ more this game than any other we have played.
Says this will be best rushing attack we face.
Both with stable of RB's and a running QB.
Says Bob Shoop has impossible task.

Says the Jalen Hurd situation has been handled horribly.
But, he wouldn't say if it's really injury or not.
Doesn't expect Hurd to play, though.
Says Kelly has to get some quality yards to spell Kamara.
Says Tamu rested all of their banged up last week.
Says we match up much better with Bama than Tamu.

Wish I had slept late instead of listening.
But, won't put my head in the oven just yet.
Hope that Swain is wrong and we somehow come back from Texas 6 & 0. :good!:

Ah, I don't care. Media doesn't like Hurd handling because Jones refuses to tell them everything. Move on nothing to see here.

It's not fear. It's match ups.

This game has the makings of a high scoring affair where once again 1 or two plays may make the difference.

We need to win special teams again and we need to win the turnover battle.

It won't be defensive stops throughout the game that will matter, it will be timely stops that will.

That said, I do think this is the game not having CS, JRM and DKjr has the impact we don't want.

If there's a game in us to play 4qtrs like we did 2nd half FLand VT, this would be a good time for it.

I think the coaches are putting too much on these kids plates and expecting them to digest it all. You look at the matchups last week, none of them mattered because it was a comedy of errors from start to finish. Massive busts on both sides creating big plays for the opponent. Games are unpredictable nowadays.

You beat me to this. Hell I do not know why we should even go. They look better on paper but this team has some fight and I will not count them out of anything. Do we have a bunch of French people on here? We are surrendering very quickly.

If we dont know, they dont know. I think Hurds situation has been handled to perfection

So do I. He didn't appreciate the opportunity and privilege of being on the field in a UT uni. Then he got hurt apparently. He's been worked really hard all season. He needs to sit for a minute. We have four very capable backs on the roster. Hurd will be back healthier and with more purpose. Plus it sends a message that no one is bigger than the team...because they aren't. Well done Butch.

Not down on Swain at all...he has opinions, like anyone else, and if he sees it a certain way...go for it...can't hold it against anyone to think this is our "Waterloo"...I just refuse to believe we're gonna lose...but, that's just me...even if we do it's not the end of the world...still a lot to play for...see, we can all have opinions and agree to disagree...:):salute:

GO VOLS!

He said that Jumper has given us all he has so far.
But, in this game, he will be facing all kinds of five star players that are great moving in space.
Swain says the Tamu Off Coordinator is licking his chops.

The only way I see us winning this game is if Dobbs has a BIG day running and throwing. We will need to score, and maybe score a lot, because our defense simply isn't that good. It isn't bad, but the injuries have really weakened the unit.
