I, like others, really like Josh Dobbs. And I really respect Justin Worley for his guts, his willingness to keep at it even under dire conditions. Love em both, they're both Vols for Life.
But looking back at some of the games, here's what I now think: Dobbs is, in fact, as good a passer as Worley. Fact is, Worley was so limited in the other dimension of the game (avoiding pressure and running the ball) that his passing ability shone by comparison.
Dobbs is just the opposite: his ability to run, and to make something out of broken plays, is so fantastic that even his decent-to-good passing pales by comparison.
So we subconsciously give Worley more credit than he's due for his passing skills, and Dobbs less than his due. So it seems that Worley is the better passer.
Looking at the tape again, buttressed by the stats, I'm starting to think Josh wins in that category, too. Or is at least equally good.
