well I must be smarter than the two previous AD's because I was against the Doolittle hire and would not have hired the mid-level Botch

There are several possibilities that could be happening, but I'm pessimistic given Haslam's involvement and history.

Makes sense that Currie is only focused on getting the next coach. Fire Butch now and he has to work out who and how the remainder of 2017 is managed and negotiate how much everybody will be compensated and what their responsibilities will be. There's not money in the budget to pay market for two head football coaches, so does he have to negotiate more pay for Hoke or Fulmer or whoever? Does OC Scott get fired as well? What about Shoop? Who gets hired, promoted in the interim, reassigned? It's not an automatic process and it would be a huge distraction. Butch is under contract through Feb 2021 to run the football program. If he stops trying to do that he can be fired with cause and lose his buyout. Maybe Currie is brighter than he's being portrayed.

I think we all need a distraction

I’ve been thinking through some of this stuff. Everyone is focused on John Currie firing Butch. He could be using this time to hook the next coach and could very well have that guy ready by the time Butch is dismissed.

Meh, I seriously doubt this. No need to overthink this. He's just dragging his feet and hoping something falls out of the sky.

Which would actually be pretty clever seeing as how we would be examining his every move. Instead, the fans are focused on the “fire Butch” movement week to week. There is more to this story than meets the eye. I think he is using this time right now to land his guy. An AD’s legacy is always hinged on a big hire. He’s up to more than we know. Just a thought.

Agree 100%, it’s sucks to wait but as long as we end up in the right spot this day to day BS won’t matter.

Or maybe Currie has no clue what he is doing, especially since the closest thing to a Snyder he has here is the guy he helped get fired in the first place. So since he can’t go hire a former legend coach he is just sitting in his office crying cause he thought Lyle would have another 9 win season and he wouldn’t have to do his actual job.

Now that the season is crap, UF has shown the world what a real AD does with a garbage coach, and the world is wondering wtf is happening in Knoxville that Lyle is still coach, his only move is to call a meeting with Lyle for no good reason. I’m willing to bet all that happened is that he told Lyle what he already knows, that the fans aren’t happy and then told Lyle he needed to do something. Yeah wouldn’t shock me to find out that it took our AD this long to talk to Lyle about fixing things when it’s WAY PAST THAT POINT. There is no fixing this, that talk should’ve happened before the season and his job should’ve been threatened by the AD after the UMass game and terminated after the uga game.

The school could care less about winning anything but midteir bowls and spending as little as possible to get the season tickets sold, donations, merchandise and consession sales.

Sadly the mass of idiots will spew the same “I’ve always gone to every game” or “I’m there supporting the players not the coaches” crap and keep the higher ups in the school happy by filling seats, buying concessions and merchandise and allowing them to continue to rake in the cash while spending as little as possible and caring less if we finish dead last every year.
