Suspend those refs

The SEC IMO could and would see immediate improvement in officiating by doing just two things. First use an independent grading service for all officials (including upstairs replay official) every game and publish them. Act on those grades and make them transparent to the public. Example: if a particular official every week over a 3 year period each week graded in the lowest 10% week in week out why would that official be kept employed? Also if a bad call happens it's probably not reason for dismissal unless it happens too often but officials could also be placed on a watch list or probationary list. Allow officials to correct any issues going forward.

The problem is we have ZERO data and if there is data it is not shared with the general public. If we had data we could easily see things in trends like biased officiating for or against teams. Officials may be biased and not even realize it if never measured and brought to their attention.

These refs are the best that Kramer/Shanks money can but. There is a book by Bernard Malamud called the Fix or the fixer.Years ago it was published and it showed that you don't need a player, you just need a REF.For the spread or for a win,pay a REF.
I've been going to Vol games for 75 years and I have only seen one time I thought the game was thrown by corrupt officials and that was the MCB against UNC in Dooley's first year.

Reactions: Woodlawn VOL
If the Vols receivers caught the damn balls thrown to them they win big too

Drops have been bad especially Staley. He led the team before his 4 drops yesterday, 3 of which were on 3rd down for sure. That catch on 3rd and long on our last drive in the 4th quarter was amazing though. Staley was a Grown azz man and just trucked that dude to get 4 more yards and the 1st down.

If We are being honest..we had no right to expect the WRs to be as good as they have been this season. Brazzell leads the nation and the other 6 WRs are ALL freshmen or RS freshmen with zero college experience. Staley is super quick and SEC fast ...he just needs to catch that dang ball and he will be great IMO.

how many times did they stop our offensive drives to go to review just to get the spot right on non-controversial plays? There are ALWAYS shenanigans when alabama's ref is calling our game. We need to tell the league that he is not allowed to officiate for the University of Tennessee sporting events anymore. We need to ban him from Neyland Stadium.

From now on, when State comes to Knoxville I want 100,000 fans to be armed with cowbells. And we ring those bad boys during State's offensive plays all game. But I'm sure the SEC would have a problem with that.
For sure the conference should rule that no presnap penalties on the offense can be called when bells are still going.

It’s time college football have paid Refs and that they have schooling and they are graded every game and grades made public and held accountable. College football can afford it. Accountability and transparency are badly needed. Nobody is going to get them all right, close calls are going to happen. But the rules and repeated bad calls by the same official has to be dealt with in some capacity. Having schools and constant training for officials would help greatly as well. All these things can be done if our league presidents especially in the power conferences care about the quality of officiating.

So it seems nobody can give a list of college refs that are truly good at their job. Time to stop using it as an excuse. Horrible calls are gonna happen in every game because almost all the refs suck.

Gotta say after watching Freaks upload that outside of a couple of PI calls against us, I didn't see a lot of other issues with their calls.

It should be mandated by the SEC that any controversial call made during the games would be reviewed and the result of the review would be posted to the schools that were victimized.
Coach should have a red flag that can make any call reviewable. Same rules on number as in the Pros.
