Surprising Blowouts, Surprising Challenges

Surprise blowout: UGA, I think we will shut down their running game enough to get a comfortable lead. From there I see Dobbs showing out against his home state team that didn't even try to recruit him. Big day for Dobbs with 5 TDs.

Surprise struggle: Vandy, for some reason Butch just can't figure them out. Last year was about 21 points closer than it should have been. Last game of the season, may have already locked up the East or realize no matter the outcome we can't win it. That apathy combined with a cold gameday will keep this game closer than it should be

I agree on the Arkansas blowout.

Florida, everything points to this being the year. On paper, we should win big. But we just MUST WIN. I guess I'll just have to see it to truly believe it.

Of the challenges, I agree that SC could give us a good game. More so than the other "surprises." But I still expect a win there.

No trap games for CBJ. He'll have this team ready every week!

For what it's worth, Finebaum said last night that after talking with Spurrier he is convinced that USC will be much improved especially defensively. Still think we've got their # but can't take any game for granted. Would love for us to put up big numbers on the old ball coach; leave him speechless--again. LOL.

Haha. I love the OBC. He leaves you guessing. If you didn't see it, this is his quote from a practice last week:

"I tell you what, we had another sorry practice today. These guys, I don't know if we're going to be able to beat anybody this year. The quarterbacks, they can't hit the broad side of a barn right now. I don't know if we could hit the side of that practice facility right there. The receivers? I don't think they could catch a cold if it was the middle of February -- dropping everything. The defensive backs, gosh, no wonder they got grass stains all over their jerseys, they're falling down about every play. The kickers? Gee. It's like the Army: left, right, left, right. They're kicking it all over the place, I don't know if we'll beat anybody this year. Leadership? Gah, we don't have any leaders out here. Guys are soft. Maybe I ought to give them the week off, see if we can reboot and find some real tough guys out here."

Yep. He has always been good at telling a whole lot of nothing after practices. My guess is on the first day of spring practice OBC tells his team...."Pay no attention to what I say to the media. I make crap up as I go".

I anxiously await the opportunity to see your offense, led by the ESPN ranked #12 in the SEC OLine, BLOW OUT my Razorbacks. See you October 3rd.

Anything is possible, but we were down a lot of guys in that candy game last year. If we have no injuries, it won't be close at home this year.

As far as blowout goes. I think Oklahoma will be the blowout game for us. One its in Neyland and 2 is i dont think Oklahoma is that good as long as we can stop that RB they have. I see this similar to the blowout we gave to Cal a few years ago to kick of the season.

As far as surprising challenges i would lean toward USCe. That could definitely be a trap game for us and as always they still have the Ole Ball Coach calling plays.

Blowing out Oklahoma is almost as silly as this thread which, as silly threads go, is in the top 10, maybe top five

I don't think we blow any SEC or SEC-caliber team out. We don't have the depth we need to do that, and our o-line is going to hamper us. Plus I don't want to jinx us.

That being said, I think Kentucky is going to be an unexpectedly scary game. Moved the game to October, played Halloween, same day as the Breeders Cup at Keeneland, Stoops has his offense trending up, and the game is in one of those spots on the schedule--second consecutive road game and the week after Bama, with SC the following week at home--where we might just get busted overlooking the Wildcats.

Surprise Blowout: Arkansas. I truly believe we absolutely kill them. 45-17.

I wouldn't consider playing Florida close to be a surprise. I expect it to be close. So I'll go with UK, and wait for it......Vandy. Kentucky will be much improved, and for some reasons those dickheads at Vandy seem to give us trouble. Should've destroyed them last year and didn't.

UGA laid 45 on Arkansas last year, and they lost their best three defenders, Flowers, Philon, and Spaight. I think their D will take a step back.

True, but that score is misleading. That game went wrong for Arkansas in the 2nd quarter when they turned the ball over 4 times and UGA scored at least 28 points in that quarter. Arkansas controlled the ball for almost 35 minutes of that game, ran all over UGA (29 1st downs), but got themselves in too deep of a hole because of those 2nd quarter miscues.

But yes, they did lose some key players on D, but they've still got some quality players on that side of the ball, specifically their MLB Ellis, and while they may not have a Flowers or Philon on the DL, they are deep on across the front, so can keep guys fresh. I do think they may not be quite as good overall on D, but I don't really think they will drop off as much as people seem to expect.
