Big play by a kid who was playing high school football last year. We would not have won the game without that play and the subsequent TD off that turnover.

Move McNeil or Randolph to LB and let TKjr start next year. Both of those guys are pretty big and good tacklers. Could bulk up a bit and be pretty good in there IMO, just like JRM. Get your best players on the field.

Or we could just let the two best start and have the third be the backup. It never ceases to amaze me the obsession this place has with position change.

Exactly right, TKJr is a ball hawk back there. Some here were questioning whether he would contribute since he played at a very small HS against weak competition. Obviously, that means nothing in his case. :good!:

It was just a thought. And besides, moving McNeil from SS to LB barely qualifies as a position change.

His coverage skills do leave a lot to be desired. The only problem I see at this point is that one of them will probably suffer an injury at some point or a targeting foul. If McNeil moves then our backup safety choices are Gaulden or Swafford.

I'm praying McNeil transfers. I'm sorry but he can't cover a bowl balogna with bread.

And the kid is trying to be an orthodontist. Could be special, just like many of these kids.

I don't like Orgeron but he had a saying that describes what we got in this freshman class.
"In the NFL you get one 1st round pick, maybe two if you're lucky. In college you have a chance to bring in 6 or 7 1st round picks in one recruiting class."

Unreal play.

This is why the future is bright. Players are the difference in college, not coaching.

Junior is special. That kid will be dominant. Very fast and elusive too. I'de like to see him running the ball on offense.

I mentioned TkJr in a thread last night, he will be a great asset to this defense, 30 tackles in 3 and a half games, great kid and a VFL to boot!

Fulmer did this with great success. Guys like Witten, Wilson, Mays, etc. I think that's why its brought up at times. I think it sparks healthy conversation. Now with that said anyone think Hurd would make a good TE? (sarc).

I agree with his cover skills, but why would you pray that a starter for your supposedly favorite team transfers? He seems to give his all on every play, he's just not the fastest kid out there. I agree with another poster that says he should be moved to LB. He actually looks like a LB out there playing safety. He's good in run support and I think he would be a good OLB

I like McNeil. Dude lays the boom. Agreed that he doesn't cover as well but damn can he tackle. Idk if a move to LB would be helpful or hurtful. Like brewer a few years ago it could just mess with him.

It's what negafans do here for kids in their junior and senior years!

I think we will be pretty set on d next year. Of course all depends on how some of our players develop and how fast some of the frosh can contribute. We'll still be pretty young but should have even more depth/talent.

With Bates, J. Johnson, McDowell, JRM, Maggitt, Weatherd hopefully we will be pretty good at LB.

Feel very confident about d line with our 5* DTs and our should have been 5* Barnett. Again, hopefully those DT's can make waves early and often. Tough coming in and making an immediate impact.

TKJr, Randolph (who I like, though some of you don't) and Sutton in the secondary. Hopefully, Mosley can batten down the hatches at the other corner. Need someone to step up at Nickel - perhaps McNeil?

Finally, need someone to take the leadership role that AJ had. Not from an emotional standpoint: I think Maggitt has that in hand. But from a playcalling leader standpoint, knowing everyone's roles, etc. Maggitt may have that too, but it is usually the MLB's job. Not sure who will be MLB, and if they have the potential, experience, knowledge to do that.
