sounds about right

Jokes aside, no one would question that Phil Fulmer has given the bulk of his adult life to UT football. He is as "Go Orange" as they come. Sadly, the last of a dying breed. He has taken UT football to the pinnacle of success. He is a first-ballot CFHOF coach. He deserves a send-off, and recognition, far beyond what he will get on Saturday.

IMO, he peaked in 1998. I don't fault him for staying on, but after the 2005 season, he should have taken a very hard look at where UT football was, and whether he was the right man to lead it back to where it belongs. I also don't fault him for sticking it out...looking for "one more great season". Who among us wouldn't want to go out on top, and on our terms? Sadly, it just didn't work out, and in the end, Fulmer's loyalty to an underachieving staff, and perhaps his ego, were his undoing. Again, I can't fault him for that...but...it was his path, and he chose it. He leaves UT as a wealthy man, who won't ever have to worry about his mortgage payment, or his lifetime financial security. Who among us can say that?

Will I miss him? Yes. Will I miss his coaching? No.

Go Vols.

I have also heard that former players will form some kind of corridor, if not the T, for Fulmer and family to pass through.

I think a nice surprise for Phil Saturday would be to have Orgeron waiting for him at the gate into Neyland to tell him he can start unemployment a little early, Team Kiffin will handle things from here on out.

2056 seems like a good year. I will be 79 if I am still alive. I will probably be EXTREMELY rich and more interested in spending my cash on some Anna Nicole Smith type girl than I will be caring what honor they give Fulmer.

Into necrophilia?

I have also heard that former players will form some kind of corridor, if not the T, for Fulmer and family to pass through.

Band opens the T, seniors run through individually and start lining up inside the top near the bench. Rest of the team comes out, also lines up inside the T. Staff, former players, etc. join them. Down the Field is played around 80 times during the entire ordeal. After Phil makes it through, the dignitaries don't get out of the way fast enough and a couple of his former teammates get mowed down by the same bass drummer than took out a ref last year. At least one band member who has the flu (but doesn't want to give up their spot to an alternate) passes out coming off the field following 20+ minutes of marking time tacked on to what is normally just an 8 minute pregame routine.

Yes folks, it will be a pregame to remember!

I heard that Phil will run thru the" T" with a box of Krispy Kremes in one hand and his buyout check in the other.
A Fulmer / Krispy Kremes joke. How utterly original.

At least substitute Krispy Kremes with something newer, such as 'frosted eclairs' or 'deep fried mayonnaise balls'.

Still, my guess is that most posters who make Fulmer fat jokes aren't exactly svelte themselves.

On Senior day Fulmer stands a the mouth of the T and personally greets each senior as they enter. I really dont see that changing. As for the timing of when it happens, who knows.

Neyland-Fulmer Stadium
No. Phil already has a street named after him. And as great as he has been as a coach, he was still not Robert Reese Neyland.

Plus, it still sounds like he wants to coach. What if he lands another job in the SEC? (Don't laugh, if OM loses Nutt or Vandy loses Johnson, either one would gladly take him.) Would we really want Fulmer coming into a stadium named in his honor, with an opposing team? If he did that and beat UT in his "own" stadium, it would be the biggest embarrassment in the program's history.
