If I'm the O.C. this is how I would change this offense.

I would play 3 WR and replace the fullback with a tight end.
Instead of trying to run the ball when they have 8 men in the block I would do play action pass and throw to the tight end coming across the middle where the LB should be if they were playing pass defense instead of run defense.

I would also throw across the middle more to the slot receiver, and have him run a crossing pattern where the safety should be so when the safety comes up to support the run defense with the play action pass you can throw to that area.

The other thing I would do is get Riggs more into the offense. We can't run with 8 men in the block since everyone is taking away our running game, why are we not throwing swing passes to him more?? He needs to be in the offense, and if they are going to take away the running game he needs to get the ball in his hands in the passing game. Send the receivers deep and clear out the area and let Riggs go one on one in the flat with a LB.

First off, I'd tell the O-line that the next guy I saw not using his legs to drive on run blocks would be benched for the rest of the season.

Second, I'd tell Jimmy Ray Stephens to write when he finds work.

Buy Gerald Riggs a guide dog so's he'll stand a chance of finding a hole.

Tell Pat Washington that if one of his receivers drops another pass that hits on the hands and between the numbers, he (Washington) is going to run the steps at Neyland.

Tell Phillip Fulmer to either let me run the g****m offense or write me a letter of recommendation.

That should cover the first ten minutes.

One word... SIMPLIFY! How long has our offense been dubbed "complex?" Simplify=execution. And if it is so complex then look who is running it, RS.

Sarge, I agree with that. 98 and 04 were our two best coaching jobs. Both years we had a new quarterback and simplified the offense.

Thats a good point about simplying the offense.
Tee Martin and Ainge in the first year as the starting QB they had great years and their second year with the entire playbook were mediocre.
