Support butch jones

People may not like this post, but firing Butch Jones will set us back another 5+ years.

Support Butch he didn't lose the game, poor execution lost us that game. Should we have given Kelly the ball on the 1, yes, but we also should have not had penalties in the red zone. We shouldn't have shanked a punt to give them field possession. We shouldn't have let a WR run past us.

The program is in the best shape it has been in since 2006. Stay the course and support Butch.
I support this post and this coach

This one sentence says all that needs to be said about whether Butch is the man to get us to the top

When you have to have your schedule "set up nicely" for your coach to win, that coach needs to hit the road

Butch will not get fired with an 8-4 record this year Count and if he does a 9-3 he damn sure won't.

There are a lot of things that I like about Jones--mainly that he loves UT and he can recruit, which is huge. But he and his staff have shown a tendency to pull defeat out of the jaws of victory--to squander games like this one that are begging to be won--and you just can't do that. It's hard winning in the SEC under any circumstances; you damn sure can't give away wins. It is one thing to get beat, but quite another to choke away victories. That has to stop now or Jones will lose his job.

Should Georgia have stuck with Mark Richt, he had a much higher winning percentage than coach Butch cliche Jones, right?

Stick with Jones and be mediocre at best or cut your losses and find a better coach, like Georgia?

or do nothing?

But Georgia hasn't shown they've hired a better coach. He's undefeated right now against two small schools, and a horrible (way over rated) Irish team. If Kirby goes undefeated this year, then there's an argument that Georgia did the right thing. No evidence they have yet.

Do you even watch other games? Do you not see that teams that use the shotgun rarely every go under center on short yardage? It is the nature of the offense. The interesting thing is that coaches you name as replacements run the same style and would do the same thing.

Jones said in his PC today that "the plan was to go under center for a QB sneak on second down".

Now that may have just been a CYA answer after getting roasted for the decision but he at least tried to put out the fire either way.

The following idea may be the most absurd of the bunch however. Dormady goes out for a play, JG comes in but we don't stick with the planned QB sneak on 2nd down.
Reason being we were not comfortable with JG being under center (As a QB) in that situation because he hasn't practiced it.

Wow.

The roster is thick with talent. If we dump Butch and go for a home run hire not only does he have a lot to work with, I bet we don't get many decommits.

The boosters were sold on Jones with recruiting. Best I can tell at least some of them felt like he was a work in progress as a coach and would recruit his way up while maturing as a coach.

Just speculating, but games like Saturday in year 5 raise eyebrows, especially given that UF team is not very good.

To me Saturday was just further conformation for some that have been questioning his coaching aptitude for awhile. As I stated earlier, this is not just about Sat.

The problem that was alluded to earlier is, what do you do now? UTs $,AD and influential people have not been on the same page in the past. If that doesn't get fixed your stuck with mediocre. Either Jones or another salesman.

How much influence do you think Currie would really have if he's looking for a football coach later this year? Could be wrong but he strikes me as the type who would actually want to pony up the cash and make a splash hire.

Some of you are so busy trying to think up childish digs that you fail to realize that unless the wheels come completely off this season, Butch will still be the coach next year whether you like it or not. The wheels are a little wobbly BTW IMO!!

Yes, and this choke job was inexcusable. He is stubborn and doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes. Last year at TAM not going for it from the 1 1/2 yard line for the 2 point conversion and the win, sucked. Those young Men just came off an emotional game with GA and worked their ass's off all year practicing and the head coach don't have faith in them getting a yard and a half for the win?????
Guess he referenced his dumb ass chart.
Also, you can't beat most SEC teams trying to kick field goals when you have a half ass defense.

If Jones continues to Jones, Currie will have to sway the investors (big boosters, specifically Haslam) that it's time to move.

IMO it's time for daddy Haslem to step aside from these decisions and allow some others to be more involved in the direction of the AD as a whole and football more especially.

People trying to juggle the W-L record to justify Jones when there are screaming patterns of continued ineptitude.

What constitutes ''wheels falling off''

Do we wait till botch finds a way to lose to Georgia?

Do we wait till we get boatraced by Alabama?

Will another loss to vanderbilt at the end of the year be enough?

The longer Tennessee waits to fire this dude the more it will hurt the program in the long run..

How has the Haslem's accrued so much power? Simply money? To me they seem to be the biggest problem.

I really wish he would go away, talking about big Jim. I feel like he's been a huge problem over the years.

Your arms ever get tired from beating the drum for Jones, since you were doing this last year too.

a little help for jones

😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡

I don't get the "firing Jones sets us back 5 years " group. That might have been true in Jones's' 2nd year. But seriously, 3 years set back at worst. Turn the whole team over in 3-4 years. And now we have a solid base of talent now. Not like when kiffen ran everyone off then left. A new guy could win now. Hell, CBJ could win now if he would learn from his errors.

CBJ has 2 major pluses. He's a good recruiter and his teams play hard. Unfortunately he flat out sucks as a game day coach.

Wow.
Then why not call a TO and settle everyone down to determine what the best course of action was? The moment was too big for the coach.

Has a lot to do with it. But there's more to it than that.

There are others better suited for opinions/decisions and being the face of that group now.

Think about it. With a STRONG 2018 recruiting class signed up, and with wins over those awful dawgs and the chickens, by all cogent reasoning, talking about firing him this early displays a program that potential replacements may wish to avoid. Although it's mentioned alongside all the "yeah, buts," Butch has lifted this program out of the dung heap and, at the very least, he's placed UT football back into the public's attention. Like it or not, Butch isn't going to be fired during this season...period. He'll be kept on as HC this year and, subsequently, through team 122's promising looking run, unless, of course the wheels completely fall off this season. All this "Fahr Butch" talk by all you self-appointed experts...at this juncture...succeeds only at discouraging recruits and uglifying our UT football program in the eyes of those who're looking in our direction. Yeah. Lose to UGA and SCjr (because the Vols WILL lose to bama), then maybe some mumbling and rumbling will be in order. Hey. If that happens, then I'll join in with you. I promise. 'Til then, Volnationals, let's look like VFLs.:hi:
