Super Seniors

Can we get a list of the super seniors that are coming back and the ones that are not?

Thx

some of these may decide to move on but as of right now, these are the guys on roster that would be considered super seniors. Be careful with that term, it DOES NOT mean they will not count against the 85 number. They will COUNT this year.

Brooks
Bumphus
Calbert
Carvin
Fant
Flowers
Hooker
Labruzza
McGrath

If my math is correct, that would leave us 7 from being full? With the holes we have to fill along with the possible self imposed scholarship reduction to appease the toothless NCAA, I don't see a lot of room to bring in more than a couple of guys to help next year. Guess we better hope there's a lot of home runs among those underclass players

Coach them up! Build them up! Speed them up! Teach DBs the technique required to turn and look for the ball then strip or intercept. Teach techniques to defend against slants. Teach techniques to effectively pass rush.

We are at 87 scholarships right now. But there is time to continue to tweak the roster.

With all the help my uneducated eye says we need, UT would need to purge at least a dozen from this roster and kill it in the portal....which is something of a crapshoot. Gotta wonder if this staff is willing to go to that extreme?

I don't view Heupel as being that willing to jettison a bunch of players.

What is baffling to me, and I can't get any info on it, is why no Tennessee players have hit the portal in the last month? its almost like the staff is recruiting them to stay.

Heupel may just really really like his current roster.

I mean it makes sense, in year one we were two refereeing robberies from beating Ole Miss and Purdue, and 7 points from beating Pitt.

A hair away from winning 10 games this season.

I thought I saw somewhere that Blakley was declaring for the draft. Is that true? Hard to understand going to the draft if he still had eligibility.

They've seen the difference between Pruitt and Heupel, and everybody wants to be with the winners.

Super seniors” and transfers exhausting their extra eligibility cannot return next season. They include wide receivers Velus Jones Jr. and JaVonta Payton, defensive backs Theo Jackson and Kenneth George, defensive ends Ja’Quain Blakely and Caleb Tremblay and defensive tackles Matthew Butler, LaTrell Bumphus and Aubrey Solomon.

Copy pasta’d from that article linked above

I am thinking that some current players will be encouraged to continue their college football careers via the transfer portal. Seeing some of these names still on our roster after a few years of never hearing their names on game days…well, it seems we might have to make some room for some SEC-caliber talent. I don’t like doing that to a kid at all but we didn’t recruit you to sit or not even crack your position rotation after 2-3 years. You have to earn your scholarship. If you can’t do it here, we’ll help you get started somewhere that’s a better fit for you. It sounds terrible to even write this, but we have no room for dead wood. We need several ready-to-play players, especially on defense.

I can name several guys on the list that I wish would have moved on. We need talent not just bodies and several of those guys aren't talented enough.
