Exactly.
We need more size at DL
We need more speed at LB
We need more speed and FOCUS at DB
We're going to struggle with the upper echelon of the SEC until we have those tools to work with.
Coaching is a big part of it guys but we've got some holes to fill on and off the field.
We're building quality D-line depth. Our three starters could play anywhere. Hood, Miller, etc. are solid backups. Depth will be better once O'brien, Taylor, and Phillips have had a year in the system.
Maggitt and A.J. have the talent to play anywhere, but they're still just sophomores. Sapp and Propst are solid guys but probably a little undersized. Fugate is an athlete, but he might as well be a frosh in terms of playing linebacker. Christian Harris getting hurt was a bigger loss than we maybe realized. Depth should get better with Zanca, Vereen, etc.
Brewer should only see the field in special packages. He's just too slow. He's also bigger than necessary for safety; it's up to the coaches to figure out how to use his specific skill set. EG is a beast. Losing Randolph hurt. Bottom line is we will be better off when guys like McNeil, Gray, Bonner, etc. have enough experience to start. I also wouldn't be surprised the see someone like Blanc get moved to safety, depending on what our WR depth looks like.(Please don't start a debate about Blanc, it's been discussed at length.) Getting Miles, Bell, JRM, and others on the Hill would/will help.
