I am not one who thinks only one guy is qualified. Just based on the info posted here, I think I could make a good case for Shannon, Green, Sunseri, and others who were apparently much less of a consideration. The only guy I could not quite rationalize was Steele.
I am more excited about this guy than I was about Shannon. He has recruited well to Bama which is more like recruiting to UT than recruiting So FL to Miami is. I believe
he was the national recruiter of the year.
One of the knocks on Shannon was that he's D's were not creative. If you could beat his base D... you beat him. I respect execution over schemes but in the SEC you need both. Sunseri worked under Saban who is a 304 guru... and under John Fox IIRC at Carolina who is a 403 guru. Saban may have the most effective blitz schemes in football... Sunseri coached his LB's.
