Ahhh yes, that time of year when people pull out they're middle finger and insert they're index finger into the ash hole...the time of year that some people look at they're ugly wife and loser kids, look in the mirror and cry.. only to remember the fine folks of Volnation are full of hope and optimism sooo instead of doing something about they're failed existence, they opt to rain on the parade of the people who enjoy living..keep up the good work OP..people like you make people like me thankful..maybe I don't have it bad as i thought...

If I didn't think most of those things, I'd be a ****ty fan (or a troll).

Our schedule is more like a normal level of difficulty, instead of the ridiculous level of last year's. Our opponents might not suddenly be worse, fat and slow, but they all have a lot more turnover on their rosters since last year than we do. The gap in talent and depth has closed a lot since last year and the year before.

To expect 2012 to be like 2011 would be displaying an inability to think rationally.

All of that is true...and exactly the way it should be. Why watch if teams never get better? Why tune in to the Bama game if you already know it's a twenty point blowout? It's just people having fun and expressing offseason hope. If you don't like that, go hang out at GVX; there's plenty of negativity masquerading as realism there.

Metamorphosis, aka, The Transformation. Yes it's weird. Yes it happens. Its a timely process. Either embrace it or stay forever in yesteryear. I for one expect some very exciting wins this fall. But also realize that we "might" suffer some losses. It's a game we love concerning a team we love. You have choices. My choice is to embrace the enthusiasm wholeheartedly and hope for the best. I happen to be one of those damn yanks that has followed college ball since the '60's. Why do I love the Vol's?,,,tradition my good man, tradition. So things have been shakey on Rocky Top for a few years. It hasn't killed us and the only way we can go is up. Tradition my good man,,tradition. Deal with it.

the OP pretty much describes every summer since i have been on VN. we are a great football program that has been going through some bad years, and everyone is dealing with it in different ways. negativity, saracasm, blind optimism, guarded hope, apathy.... we have had all these dynamics pretty much festering in a dumpster for years now and it is pretty much paints the current vibe of VN. most thread questions, dumb or not, are answered with sarcasm. anything optimistic is sunshine pumping. anything negative is trolling. i have loved this site for years and still do, but i so look forward to seeing the VN vibe swing some day, when we hopefully have a great team to talk about and all this nonsense is the exception and not the norm.

There have been some pretty pointless threads on VN this month for sure. See: 50 shades of Bray, subliminal message to Derrick Dooley, etc. This, however, takes the cake. If I were allowed to curse on Vol Nation OP I would call you something that rhymes with Mucking Foron.

Amazing. Especially since some of vn's brightest claimed DD threw him under the bus and that he was a sure transfer.
Where are those clowns now? I guess the circus left.
