I've seen specifics about individual players but could someone give me an idea of how they think our recruiting class, as a whole, will be for this year?

thanks.

You'll see a few of them crack the 2 deep right away: North, JRM, Vereen, Bell, Carr, possibly Sanders/Harris. We'll finish top 15 as well.

Not highly ranked. Yep, that about sums it up.

But, like weve been saying for about 6-7 years now, just wait till next year!

Pretty much this. I'm pretty sure out staff sold North on being an immediate starter so look for him thus year. I could see Carr being a rotational guy all over the DL. Depending on JRM's position he could get some good snaps. Barring injuries I don't see any OL getting playing time. Vereen could potentially be a contributor depending on his game ready he is.

Also if we get Bell, Levenberry, Bellamy they could contribute as Fr. We should be in wait and see mode right now!

Feeling Very Positive about their Impact at UT:
Marquez North
Corey Vereen
Jalen Reeves-Maybin
Austin Sanders

Open-Minded but Taking a Wait and See Approach:
Jason Carr (will receive heat for this, but I just temper expectations on DE/DT prospects at this university these days, the court of public opinion always seems to feel underwhelmed by our higher profile DL, even if and when they have a productive career.)
Paul Harris (will probably receive heat for this too, but I just think he's going to take a little longer to develop his game, and I'm just going off the formula that receivers are just a highly unpredictable type of player)
Riyahd Jones
Malik Foreman
A.J. Branisel
Brett Kendrick
Ryan Jenkins

Doubtful about their Future Impact at UT:
Cameron Sutton
Woody Quinn
Josh Smith
Riley Ferguson
Lemond Johnson
Dylan Wiesman

Lol, that list is hillarious with players like foreman in a level above Sutton.

Paul Harris could be the next Justin Hunter or the next Matt Milton.....such is the nature of recruiting and player development.

Think Ford may announce to us today. Barber committed to Auburn yesterday and I think that means Ford becomes a Vol. if he does, and we get Bell, Miller and Levenberry, it'll be a top 15 class with North, Harris, Carr, Vereen, Jenkins et al which will be very good given all circumstances.

Agree with the basic sentiment.... but UT has had highly rated classes. If you average their finishes during that period you have teams that should have been highly competitive. Fulmer had no discipline but got highly rated players... they just couldn't stay eligible or focused. Kiffin did surgery with a butcher knife to try to fix that problem quick, ran his mouth to get attention, then bolted for LA before really accomplishing anything of value. Dooley inherited a mess that he ultimately didn't have the personal qualities or coaching ability to fix.

Many here want to let Jones off the hook. It is now HIS job to win recruiting battles and get the players he needs to win within 3 years. Not much time? Real sorry about that. Lots of ground to make up? Sorry about that too.

I want the guy to do great. I like the excitement he brings and the fact that his enthusiasm seems to play well with recruits. But at the end of the day you still have to close the deal with kids like Lawson. UT has finished "second" on enough players over the past few years to have won a national championship.

Don't really know about the rest... but you are definitely wrong on TE's. At least one of those guys will have an impact and probably starting this fall.

You want the summary, well here's the summary.....

Our recruiting class would be really good if we played in the ACC or the Big LEAST. But, we play in the SEC, therefore our recruiting class STINKS, period. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Yes, we have a few good players committed, but not nearly enough to compete with our competition in the top half of the SEC. We are not coming close to meeting our needs at RB, DL, or LB, plus we are coming up a little bit short on the OL too.

Yes, Doofus really hamstrung us on recruiting, so Butch had a near impossible hill to climb on this years class. Having said that, Butch really better up his game for next year's class and beyond, if he wants to stay here beyond 3 yrs.

Tennessee , lots of second place for blue chippers. This will change with W's on the field of play.
