we're coming in on I 20 from Birm'ham, where would be a good place to stay just outside ATL and be able to ride the MARTA to the dome? Thanks

Sorry to say, but, there is not a place to stay on that side of town that I would concider "safe". Bad news side of town.:pimp_2:

Your best option if you don't want to stay downtown would be to get a room near the airport. Most of the hotels near there run shuttles to and from the airport/Marta station.

Just hop on 285 South and you won't go too far out of the way.

I did not there was a bad or "unsafe" part of town in ATL, thats news to me.

I would go North on 285 around to the GA400 area. Go to Marta website and you will see the train stops. The Roswell/Alpharetta area is the place to stay if you do not want to stay downtown. Good Luck.

You will have a much shorter trip from Birmingham to the airport than to Roswell or Alpharetta. That doesn't make much sense to me. Travelling in on I-20, get on I-285 South and go about five miles to the airport. You can't beat it.

I agree if he wants to treat this like a business trip. I was just giving an option for actually having a fun trip. The airport area has nice hotels but NOTHING to do for fun.

just wanted to be in a "safer" area close to downtown with easy access to the train

Then, by all means, stay at the airport. Just stay at one of the upscale hotels with interior corridors. Have a great time and GO VOLS!

Man Iam jealous ! I want to go so bad but I will be stuck in SC by myself watching it! Please someone feel sorry for me??:cray:
