I'm coming back to Tennessee for a family visit, it's been 6 years, and what's fun to to in middle/east Tenn between the 21st-24th of March? I'll have kids with me from ages 8-15...any suggestions?

Are you talking Nashville area or more over toward Knoxville?

Kids would probably love that. Personally I'd rather take a bullet to the head. :) The traffic over there is absolutely incredible.

Chatanooga has the Aquarium and other fun stops for the kids.

if you go to gatlinburg, be sure to get an air-brushed shirt. and a license plate. and a hat...and be sure to not feed the three live bears...

If you go to Gatlinburg you have to ride the chai lift/ski lift whatever you call it, and see the decades of chewing gum people have stuck over the years. Plus pay a ridiculous amount for a picture. :)

Dollywood will be fun for your kids, not sure if they will have the water rides open by then.

Chattanooga Aquarium is fun...go up to Lookout Mountain.

Get the kids to Cades Cove or one of the hiking trails in the Smokies and let them play in a creek.

If you do want to go to Pigeon Forge, there are secret back ways known only to the Vol Nation that you can use to avoid most of the traffic.

They used to have a really cool one in Oak Ridge?

They do have a children's museum there...I think that my sister takes my nieces there from time to time. I've never been there....however, I have been to the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge many times. It is a pretty cool place. It is probably one of the biggest influences on my professional life ... it sparked an early interest in the sciences and Oak Ridge that has carried me through what I'm doing today...kind of funny really. But, I would tend to agree that it is probably not vacation material, per se!

I remember that place..they would irrradiate dimes for you. I carried one around in my pocket for about a week....maybe that explains my son's sixth toe.

The Knoxville Zoo and the aforementioned Chattanooga Aquarium are good places to go.

Lookout Mountain is overrated
