Suggested coaching changes

I disagree. In 2025, TN is 15th in SEC Rushing D (212.0 yds/gm) and 9th in SEC Passing D (246.7 yds/gm).

In 2024, McCoy had 26 solo Ts & 0.5 TFL while Gibson had 25 solo Ts & 2.0 TFL. These guys are not run stoppers. They may lower the passing yds/gm but not enough to make a serious impact in my opinion. In 2024, TN was 2nd in SEC Rushing D (103.9 yds/gm).
These numbers are not at all correct.

This is so dumb. Our record matched most logical predictions this year. 8-4 or 9-3 was most ppl’s floor.

We aren’t firing heupel, and we aren’t firing banks. Both just got extended. We will reload with this new class and probably make some internal changes.

We had one of the top defenses last season. This season was not expected to be a natty year. There were a lot of holes in the roster. We still had a top offense with a QB that got here in April and 9 new starters.

It wasn’t a great season, yesterday was embarrassing, but let’s not be rash. Heupel would be hired by a competitor in seconds and we would end up with some Dooley or Jones 2.0 and be damned to another 15 years of 6-6, 5-7 or 4-8 seasons.

This whole thread is for naught. Banks will still be here next year and it’ll be the same old **** because our coach refuses to make changes. Oh yea ticket prices will go up as well

I do agree with this, but I can't ignore the facts that we barely beat Arkansas (2-10) in Neyland while giving up 496 yards. It took overtime to beat Mississippi State. And we allowed Vanderbilt to put up 579 yards and 45 points in Neyland. Those things should not happen, even in a rebuilding year. Changes must be made, or we are staring down the barrel of 7-5 next fall.

To be clear, I've never suggested that we fire Heupel. I love Heupel. But the middle of our defense (DT, LB, S) is among the worst in the SEC. How does that get better? Maybe the portal. But if your leader of your defense has 3 position groups as bad as those are in year 5, it's hard for me to not start there when figuring out what needs to change.
