Sugar Bowl

When UF loses to Bama, we technically become the second best SEC team. It's definitely likely. Just hope we avoid one of the Big Ten teams.

We've done quite well against Big 10 teams last few years in bowls...I'd take another Big 10 match up.

Can I assume the Sugar Bowl is using the playoff rankings? Tn isn't ranked in either actual poll. Would make sense to use the playoff polls since they replaced the BCS rankings.

We will throttle Vandy....FSU will beat Florida after an emotional game today at FSU...then they get to be made a spectacle of by BAMA...allowing us to make the Sugar Bowl...Butch will win it...and that will not be good enough for most on here still.

I am so sick of coming to this board and reading this nonsense. Vols were 1 yard (that they didn't control) from going to Atlanta. They have a real possibility of going to a New Years 6 bowl game and people are complaining. I am heading down to Nashville next weekend to paint that stadium orange, we haven't been ranked in top 20 heading into last weekend of the season since 2007. LETS GO VOLS!!!

We could be undefeated right now and it would not be good enough for most on here because we didn't win by enough or they beat us in some statistical category. It's truly sad. If we go to it and win we will hear about how that team didn't deserve their ranking or to be there like Northwestern last year.

Tennessee, which was the early overwhelming favorite to win the SEC East, is officially out of the East race now that Florida has clinched things but the Sugar Bowl is very much in play. The second-highest ranked SEC team in the College Football Playoff rankings will get that spot and Florida still has to play at Florida State and against No. 1 Alabama in the SEC title game. Beat Vandy next week and have Alabama win out and the Vols have a shot at New Orleans.

N'awlins looks like a real possibility.

Auburn loses to Bama big.

UF loses to FSU and Bama big.

We beat Vandy.

I saw somewhere they have to take the next highest ranked SEC team. If these scenarios happen....it could very well be the Vols.

Depending on where we and UF are ranked next week, they might not even need to lose to FSU.

Auburn falling to 8-4 next week should be enough to drop them the 5 or less spaces below us. They might not necessarily have to "lose big."

I have been a member since 2012, mainly reading not posting as you can tell. I can't wait until I can start a thread (100 posts). We need to show up next week to Vandy strong, lets get a roll call. PLEASE remember what Vandy did to us a few years ago in Neyland.

Against Oklahoma if the don't somehow slide into the playoff? If so, we might need to figure out this whole defense thing between now and then.

Wow, couldn't back into the SECCG so now hoping to back into the Sugar Bowl? Wow, just wow.

"...Jones delivers another catchphrase. Florida coach coach Jim McElwain delivers another divisional title.

In fact, McElwain has done more in two seasons at Florida than Jones has done in four at Tennessee."

Sad, really sad. Unless we do actually go to the sugar bowl & win it

Yes, it goes off the CFP rankings like the Orange Bowl does (its selection is the highest ranked SEC or Big 10 team after the CFP, Rose Bowl, and Sugar Bowl are done selecting). We're ranked 19th in the CFP rankings this week.

It's often like this in programs if the main rival teams are winning conference and especially national championships.

LSU beats aggies, Bama beats auburn, Florida state beats Florida, and Vols are the only sec team with 3 losses. (UF loses to Bama too)

WE may end the year ranked higher than any other team in the SEC except Bama. We have a good shot at the Sugar Bowl, after Bama beats down Fla and Auburn. Dont have much confidence in LSU after that pathetic showing today. What a comedy of errors that was.

OU wouldn't get into the playoffs at 10-2.

We could get Oklahoma State though?
