Yeah for real, why would I spend my time complaining about a team I LOVE to people I don't even know. That's insane if I was just a fair-weather fan. If that was the case I would love USC and Ohio State right now. I also wouldn't have ORANGE curtains in my study.
Exactly.

yeah look at all the nfl talent on that team and look at this years team. the past couple of years you saw the demise of the team because our players weren't on the same level and excution, but the coaching changes were made last year and cutcliffe is helping improve our offense that was horrible last year.

yah, but tickets are going cheaper than they used to go for. You used to have to take a loan out to buy tickets online, but now you can get them for face value more often...if they start winning more games...those ticket prices will skyrocket back up.

WE haven't been to a BCS bowl in almost 10 years, so tell me why I want to just standby and not try to convey to my school that I want them to have high standards?? If you have low standards then nothing matters to you.

Michael Jordan once said that "If you set your goals and aim higher than what you set, then you hit your goals more often than not." Or something like that.

No one said they was satisfied with the season. I'm sure the team wants to have a high standards. The team does not go out and give their sweet and tears every day to lose. but sometime its not too be. Did Jordan win a Title Evey year?

its not mediocrity Is having commonsense no one wins every game check your history

Who said anyone expects to win every game?

We haven't been to a BCS bowl since '99. We've only won one bowl game the last 5 years.

I don't think there are any fairweather fans on this site or any other board. If they were fairweather, then they wouldn't take the time to even post.

I think all of us are fans and there's nothing wrong with wanting to beat unranked teams, or lose less than three or four games a season every once in awhile.

2001 is the last time we really had a chance to contend. The programs kept building up through the 90's until we won it all in '98. Since then we squandered a couple of years and the last 5 have been in a mediocre rut.

There's not much different now than there was with Majors. And I recall many wanted Majors gone and now I think it's time for another change. It's not about being fairweathered.

When you become content with being average, then it is mediocrity. I dont expect them to win every game, but I do expect to compete, and they didnt compete today.

Yea they sound real all right. If they were in the BIG 10 or PAC 10 they would not even get the chance to be LOSERS in a bowl.

Way to go hillbillies and sec rednecks. Lost two today boys. :)
SEC is alot better than either of those.

Quit the crying over the loss. No ones going to get fired. I don't know how some of you guys can consider yourself fans always putting your team and coaching staff down. We have a lot to built on in 2007

Fair weather fans are fans who stop caring about a team when they lose.

Do you HONESTLY think people who take the time out to post for hours on a message board don't care? We're the antithesis of fair weather fans.

Sure the pursuit of excellence has merit. There is definitely something about the fire in the belly. But meaness, outrage and expectation based merely on attitude and criticism do not necessarily lead to success. At times these have been a part of success but it is not a given. Great coaches are not necessarily a commodity in high supply. And while not saying the equivalent of either is available now to coach the football Vols but there certainly was a difference in approach between John Wooden and Bobby Knight. College football is a phenomenon built on program. Some of this think that stayin with those that brung you yet has some merit old school as that may be. My vote is to keep building on the foundation which exists.

I believe we can find 105,000 real fans to fill the stadium. If you don't like it find you different team. Sure I don't like to lose but you cant win them all. If your team won every game every year what would the purpose of watching.

A) Find evidence that anyone here thinks we should win every game, every year.

B) You're saying if we don't like how a job we pay for is being done, we should just shut up? Are you the opinion police, now? You'd do well in the old Soviet Union.

C) 105,000 real fans or fans who agree with you?

today was a tough loss, but this was supposed to be a rebuilding year from the beginning. i didn't expect cutcliffe to come in and immediately take us to glendale for the national title. i thought it was a much better improvement over 5-6 last year and we should continue to get better for next year.

5-6 isn't rebuilding, and Tennessee should never rebuild.

Georgia's 9-4 season was rebuilding.

yal do. One loss and yal jump off the deep end
ONE LOSS?? Where the hell have you been the past few years? I guess if you were a Columbia Fan then yeah this was a helluva year. I didnt set the expectations we all did as did the players and coaches from the past. This program was the 9th winningest program in the history of college football and the past few years it seems to have rested on that laurel. It is time someone gets the paddles out and injects a little electric shock. Why dont some of you who want to call us Fair Weather Fans rent or buy the Tennessee Legends Reunion DVD and listen to guys like Steve Kiner, and Condredge Holloway about what was expected of players then.
