With the twins on the way and an 18 month old in a car seat the only SUV that will accomodate seems to be a Suburban or the Yukon XL. Anyone out there driving one right now? What do you like/dislike?

don't have the XL or suburban, but about two years ago, when we decided we would be working on expanding the family, we got rid of the Jetta and got a Tahoe, 04 model. and love it. the mileage sucks and the only time i hate the thing is when i get the gas receipts from my wife.....

but very easy ride, comfortable, and easy to get stuff in and out of...baby seats, babies etc...don't have to bend over, everything is at eye level etc...

plus we travel up to PA fairly regularly and we take it, works great for trips, plenty of room in the back for bags, dogs and stuff:p .

so in short, i like it..........

i just bought the new tahoe, i traded in my denali for it. i like the yukon/tahoe's they ride well, sit up high. but like jakez4ut said the gas mileage stinks, but i would much rather have this than a car or a minivan. my tahoe is my vacation/date nite w/ my girl ride. every other time i drive my crew cab truck. country boy i know

Do the new '08 Buick Enclave. Great look. Full size SUV with great styling. Better mileage than the Tahoe lines. Front buckets, captain seats and a center pass thru to the rear seat. I'm eyeballing one of htese myself.

Is this Tiger Woods? Trying to sell a Buick and don't even own one. Has to be Tiger.

If you're going GM, you gotta go GMC. Yukons are pretty good. Or if you can shill the cash, a Toyota Land Cruiser is easily the best full-size SUV money can buy.

Seems most of em aren't equipped with a turning signal. If they pass you and pull back into the lane your in you just don't see the blinking right light. Hard to believe a vehicle that cost over 35 K isn't equipped with a turn signal.

If you have to roll in the big SUV with a 3rd seat I highly recommend the ESV. I have driven one the 13 hour drive from Nashville to South Fla in a single day and I felt absolutely no road fatigue upon arrival.

My original preference was actually a Sequoia, but neither the Sequoia or the Land Cruiser have the storage space I need once the third row seats are up. I was very disappointed about it.

I have considered the ESV, but I have never been keen on Cadillac. I don't know that I can justify spending the extra cash.

Lex, I have never bought a new car in my life and probably never will. Too much instant depreciation.

I buy used as well. The price difference still averages about 10 to 12 thousand bucks. I just wonder if I am getting that value out of the ESV.

bought the tahoe at carmax...good value, easy purchase......no way i'd buy "new" ever again either.

we looked at several SUV's before settling on the Tahoe...expedition, explorer, nissan, toyota (several different models of each make), and kind of like HB said about the ESV, when we drove the tahoe, it didn't ride anything like what we had previously test driven......the ride was much, much better, a lot more storage and room....

i drove a yukon xl on a business trip in TX about a year ago, the only real difference is you can definitely tell the weight difference in driving the two, but the ride was about the same.....

okay. I did not realize that Tahoe/Yukon was that much less. I kind of eyeballed some prices on the Carmax website and they seemed a little closer together but still a jump. Another thing I thought about is the purpose of the vehicle. My sister has 3 kids and drives a Seinna minivan. Even after the thing is professionaly cleaned I can barely stand to ride in it what with all the weird stains and smells. I probably wouldn't shell out the extra money on luxury features that will just wind up being trashed.

That certainly plays into my decision making.

What about a Subaru Forester? It's on a truck frame, but it still gets better gas mileage than a large SUV. Gas just isn't going to get cheaper in our lifetimes.

Where will I put the third infant car seat, on the luggage rack? My wife will never go for it no matter how strong the bungee is.

I always thought GMs are pricier than Chevys?
You mean GMC? They are pricier, but worth it. If I was forced into buying any GM vehicle, it would be a GMC truck, easily. They are actually built better, and that kind of price difference is justifiable.

Once we had our first ( 2 year old son) we traded the '03 4Runner for a '03 Denali XL. We now have a second (4 month old little girl)
I would recommend getting the rear captains chairs. Gives you a little room to move between the 3rd row and the second row. The storage space is great, but we also travel with a Great Dane so we use a cargo carrier mounted on the luggage rack (for the golf clubs).

We've had no issues with ours and really like the fact we can get everything loaded we need when you start including "pack and plays", strollers and luggage .

The only thing I wish we had looked for when buying was the integarted DVD's. With our son just turning two were going to get a DVD system, before our next trip to Tennessee and Florida.

My wife wants the type you take in and out, I would rather get the DVD's installed, anyone have pros and cons for these options.

Audiovox has a rear overhead mounting bracket that houses a portable DVD player that you can take out. I sell them at my Best Buy. Shouldn't be more than $900 after installation, and Audiovox makes IR headphones for them too.

Thanks Vol in ar. Great advice. Captains chairs are a must. Unfortunately my wife is not a DVD kind of person so I know very little about them. I can tell you that when the equipment is installed in the vehicle it looks better, but in an XL I am not so sure that the veiwer in the third row seat can see the screen very well.

Word. A lil' over $500 for the actual player, a lil' over $200 for the overhead mount, a lil' over $150 for installation (trust me do NOT try this one at home) and I left some room open since you guys have to pay sales tax.

Found an 03 LT loaded today and pulled the trigger. I will miss my Tundra tremendously, but duty called.
