Stupidest Rule in Football

This statement is as dumb as holding up 4 fingers at the end of the 3rd quarter.

So why play if you can't celebrate accomplishing the goal you've been working for during practice?
Stupid thinking that you can't celebrate achievement
That’s your opinion, not mine. That doesn’t make either one dumb or right or wrong. Nobody said you couldn’t celebrate. There is a time and place for it. For me, on the sidelines and bench. You might want to do it the middle of the field and show off and show up your opponent. That’s you. Nobody said it was dumb.

First off, if the running back or the quarterback or the receiver LOWERS THEIR HEAD then targeting penalties no longer apply for any unintentional hits to the helmet. That's beyond stupid. It's gone.

Second, holding is the dumbest of the dumb boring rules. There's holding on most plays. There's obvious holding on a number of "successful" plays. Maybe the rule should be called "Excessive Holding." I don't even know if I like that.

Finally, tasteful amounts of celebration are fine. Being emotional going into the endzone is fine. Taunting is not fine. Penalize accordingly. If there must be punishment for celebration, warn the kid first. If he does it again, then find a way to penalize 'em. Taking away the points is far too harsh for the "violation" such as it is. Dumb dumb dumb.

Roughing the kicker. If you don’t want to get tackled then don’t play football!

Extra points.

I like the XFL approach and their rules changes
I also like the XFL approach to kickoffs.
Once players git the hang of it, made for some pretty exciting returns instead of the 9 out of 10 fair catches we see now...if it's going to be waived off all the time, why even have a kickoff???

Don’t fumble.

This. I don't get why it's a stupid rule, what should they do it someone fumbles through the end zone? Say "it's alright, we will pretend that didn't happen" lol
Interception in the end zone then kneel down is a touchback. The defense should have to get it out of the end zone to avoid a safety

You can't be serious, that'd be a terrible chaotic rule lol

Rules relating to having to analyze in nano seconds where its appropriate to hit an opposing player are the stupidest rules in football. Might as well do away with football.
“NFFL” This will be the new abbreviation for the NFL in the next 20 years because of the snowflake culture.
National Flag Football League

If I’m around in 20 years please acknowledge that you heard it from me first. Hopefully I will remember the prediction.

#1 the death penalty for targeting when no conference (that I've seen) is consistently able to determine what it means

#2 downfield blocking by the offensive line... With the advent of RPO's, it's ever prevalent in the college game. For some reason, a few referees decide to flag it occasionally depending on which team they're calling it on..

3) down by contact has proven to be a really easy rule to abide by..not sure why this is so difficult?

4) let the college kids celebrate in the endzone as long as it's a celebration with teammates.....

Holding is so subjective that it can never be called consistently. I guess they need to go back to the OL not being able to grasp at all. It will create less scoring but that is Ok with me.

It’s not like we are in Canada with 20 yard end zones.

The ball touched the ground but he had total control... uh hun
Fair catch inside the 25 and the ball is still placed at the 25...lol
One foot down, it's a catch,. Even though the other foot came down almost simultaneously out of bounds. Just use the NFL rule, both feet in.

So many rules

The whole crown of the helmet rule is flawed. It is too subjective because of the speed of the game. There is helmet to helmet contact on about every play by the offense and defense. I predict in 20 years football will be similar to flag football with no tackling.

I've seen players on same team head butt each other in celebrating a big play that's been much harder than the tap from D Johnson to Bennett UGA game.. This rule is supposed to protect players from injury, If their true to their word, say when a QB & WR make a great throw for TD and meet in the end
zone and head tap .The one who initiated should be ejected because this is premeditated. This example is out there but so is the rule but if they follow it this should happen. Seen where a player head butted a coach when he was coming to side line in celebration busted coaches forehead. Player was not ejected. It's a weird rule mostly hurting D players.

Stupidest Rule in Football: Fumble through the endzone touchback. What do you think?
Honestly its a great rule. U fumbled the ball through the endzone. Why would u reward a offense for making a mistake?? Its not like they have to get the entire ball across the goaline to score. On top of that u would eliminate those plays were u see guys giving maximum effort. That has nothing to do with talent but everything to do with heart. Guys would just start giving up on plays. U wouldnt see the play that Stingley made yesterday, or the play Diggs made at Seattle which is a direct result of Saban's teachings. I guarantee u when Metcalf chased down Baker he was thinking about knocking the ball out from behind. Guys arent running 99 yards at a dead sprint to catch a guy inside the 5 trust me.

Can someone explain why targeting is never called on the ball carrier? I see RBs lowering their head and hitting defenders with the crown of their helmet in every game. Why isn't that called?
i think u have to be outside of the box for them to call it on ball carriers. I saw it called on DeMarco Murray a couple times when he played.
