@ OP, Students and others have supported UT through these tough times and are fed up so I don't see how you can ask someone to support something they don't agree with. I'll never attend another game as long as Dooley is coaching and I doubt I'll even watch it on TV. If the AD don't care then why should they???

If you don't want to go I can understand that but you have posted over 1000 times per year and don't even want to watch it? If you really didn't care you would be doing something else.

Oh..it is only $10?

Yeah....that is sad!

Ps. Fire Dooley!

When I was at UT, I had my money budgeted to $50 a week including gas and groceries. So, when I did go out on the weekends, it wasn't always to watch our team lose.

Just sayin'.

$10 isn't a lot, but I could do other things with it.

True...$10 in college......can be one helluva good time!

I'm a student and go to all the games. There are a lot of students that aren't near as big of fans as us and don't want to pay 10 bucks to watch us get beat or play terribly. The only way it'll change is if we start winning. Simple as that

yeah i guess they would rather spend that $10 to get drunk, which is waaaay cooler. I am pretty sure Hart knows what is going on and he doesnt have to see a half empty student section to get the message.

i just don't buy most of these kids' arguments i have heard the past year or two...i have school...i have to work...i cant afford a ticket...blah blah blah

i was a student there. i didnt have mush disposable income; i had a job; my friends and i took though subjects, made good grades, have good jobs now, and we never missed a game?

has something changed in the last year or two? or are our students lazy, lame, or just not like college football? or all three?

You'd think someone that says they went to school, made good grades, attended every home game and had a good job would learn how to capitalize, punctuate, spell, proof read and build a sentence. :banghead2:

I just like this assertion that, if you're a student at UT, you owe it to the football players to go to the game. There are 28,000 some-odd enrollees--undergrad and grad-- and to think that every other student is interested in football is preposterous.

But he raised a good point. Nothing has changed the past few years with UT football. And that's the problem.

Dang skippy! 10 bucks back in the day could get me a 12 pack of Black Label! OHHH MABEL!!!
I'd rather be slicker than a boiled owl and pretend we are good than be sober and watch this saga of suck being played out in the great Neyland Stadium.

if this program rises back to relevance again in maybe 3 yrs or so ill be shocked...but without a coaching change it wont happen...plain and simple..if Hart wants to keep DD in place only cause their bama buddies then screw them both!!! I can almost bet Hart wont be the AD at UT in 10 yrs if hes there that long...he will do something else by then..

If UT beats Floriduh and the bammers next year , neyland will be full!

We just need to focus on that!
I did not go to UT so I have no idea how it is for the students, but going to Memphis living at mom and daddy's while also working I went to as many Memphis , UTvs UF games I could !
But we have bball that the university of Memphis .
If UT wins the stands will fill up.
Simple problem solving.

according to Hubbs from volquest, Mizzou has sold over 5,000 tickets for the 9 hour road trip to knoxville.

at the same time, the students had bought roughly 2,700 tickets as of thursday.

that's pretty sad. what else is there to do at noon this saturday in knoxville? if you guys dont like college football more than that then maybe being mediocre in the SEC is all you deserve.

i understand the argument of "lets send a message to the AD" theory, but why would you not go to the home games and support your university's players, classmates, friends? i think it is a total slap in the face to the players who sacrifice so much time and effort as student athletes to not give them your full support as fans.

allowing Mizzou to have more fans than our entire student section is embarrassing. you students need to do something about that. i am an alumni and i wouldn't miss a home game for anything when i was a student because now im in the position where it is not possible for me to make it back to every home game. your gonna wish one day you would have went to all those games.

can drink the day away. it is better than going to the stadium and watching dooley find away to lose. boycott in full effect. fans deserve better for there money

10 bucks? I would go for certain, but would be drinking all the way.

However, 1996 was a completely different time.

my son is a student and many students went home for the weekend. We live in Atlanta and he hasn't been home all semester so we're glad to have him here. He loves the vols and loves Dooley, so there's no plan on his part.

Hope the vols win 100-0 and shut up the haters.

I'm a sophomore and have been to every home game the past two seasons EXCEPT Troy last week. I will be at Mizzou but I don't blame any of my friends for not wanting to go. I am a die-hard fan but it has become almost unbearable to go to these games.

Dont buy into this. The seats will be full of ORANGE. Vols fans will come out and support UT. I Was at the Troy game and it was not as empty as some on here would lead you to believe. Support our VOLS no matter what

Ray Charles, everybody.......

Welcome back...

Are you sure you understand it? Because not going to home games is how a fanbase sends a message to the AD. Any time a program isn't living up to the standards/performance it should, the attendance drops. It happens everywhere, not just here.

Seriously. You can still watch the game, just dont spend the money. You HAVE to send a message to the AD. They Can't ignore huge monitary losses. Sort of forces their hand.

UT needs to go back to including the 'student activities' cost in tuition and STOP charging students for tickets on a per game basis. Another Hamilton gaffe that affects the university long after that bean counter is gone. The 'student activities' covered all social events so those who said they did not follow sports could use it for movies, theatre, etc. A WIN WIN for the university in my day.

There's a thing that a lot of us students are trying to focus on. I can't remember what it's called, but... oh, yeah, school. You know, that thing you have to put time into for a degree and a career?

When the team is bad, it makes staying home to study a more reasonable option for our emotional well-being.

I don't really have a lot of disposable income and watching this team is like surgery sans anesthesia. Sorry.

They still charge the student activity fee.

It just doesn't count for football tickets.

You're full of it broski. The stadium was EMPTY. Saying they sold 75,000 is laughable at best. There are too many pictures depicting this.

edit:I was also in attendance. I had good seats, but could pretty much walk down and sit wherever I wanted. That's SAD.
