Students Return 3000 tickets

I heard something in passing today on the radio about CLK offering students a chance to come watch practice and then a get together with Coach Summit. I wasn't really paying attention, so I could be wrong. I think something like that would be a good idea, if true.

Tonight was Senior Night at Haslam Field. All seniors were invited to watch the football team practice. Following practice we had a chance to meet with Pat Summitt and Mike Hamilton. I wish I could have gone, but I had a night class.

I find it quite interesting that you would suggest our University revert to a system that encouraged kids to camp out on the sidewalk, drink, and skip classes.

Neither this nor the $20 charge is keeping kids from going. Just like a lot of the alumni and older crowd, they don't care much about going to watch a sputtering offense implode and us either barely beat an inferior program or lose to another SEC rival.

When we put a good team on the field and return to exciting football, people will come.
I agree with you that the $20 fee has little to do with students not attending. I also agree that a winning team will put more butts in the seats.

However, according to other posts I've read in this thread, the current ticket distribution process isn't all that great. If reverting to an older system makes the process better, then call me old fashioned.

Also, camping out is fun, I never said anything about skipping classes, and whether you like it or not, drinking is a part of campus life for a lot of students (frat or not). I'm not so sanctimonious to think that a student can't drink with his friends while camping out for tickets and also attend classes, get good grades, and earn a degree. This I speak from experience.

I just think back to nights spent camping out for tickets and shake my head :disappointed:

Ahhh the good ole days...Blankets, pillows and pizza delivery...Oh I miss those days snoring outside the ticket office. :eek:lol:

While that is true, I think another reason may be the new ticketing system. You have 2 days to request tickets. I think its Wednesday and Thursday the week before the game. Students had to request tickets for this game last week. Then there is a 3 or 4 day period where you can buy the tickets. I havent had a problem yet, but alot of my friends who are tryin to focus on tests and get alot done in a short amount of time simply forget to buy the tickets, not necessarily request them. Once you pass the opprotunity to buy a ticket during the Claim period you arent allowed to buy until the tickets go on sale to the public. I dont think everyone who doesnt go to the game or buy a ticket is lazy, just may be overwhelmed with school work and simply just forget about going online to buy the ticket or get confused that they have one after requesting it.
