Students Return 3000 tickets

As a student this pisses me off like nothing else. We have our first SEC game in Neyland, and everyone would rather sit at home or go to bar. I no longer blame Hamilton if he cuts the allotment down next year. This is getting ridiculous.

I just think back to nights spent camping out for tickets and shake my head :disappointed:

Although, I will say that $20 is a little expensive for a student ticket. They should be free. According to GVX though, most of those 3000 have been sold so it still should be close to a sellout if it isn't one.

The deal is our student section sucks.

And I don't want to hear any crap about charging for tickets. Given how much the average UT student spends on alcohol, I know there are at least 13,000 students who can afford $20 for a ticket.

I can attest to this. At last years FL game I sat in the student section and witnessed a student projectile hurl about 30 bucks worth of beer. Without being too graphic, he appears to have tailgated with chili.

I don't blame them too much. Going to Neyland is like going to a wake. No fun and no atmosphere in there... and very few fans that actually give a damn.

$20 was kind of expensive for me in college.

Almost every big football school charges students for tickets. Our students are just spoiled from having free tickets for so many years.

While that is true, I think another reason may be the new ticketing system. You have 2 days to request tickets. I think its Wednesday and Thursday the week before the game. Students had to request tickets for this game last week. Then there is a 3 or 4 day period where you can buy the tickets. I havent had a problem yet, but alot of my friends who are tryin to focus on tests and get alot done in a short amount of time simply forget to buy the tickets, not necessarily request them. Once you pass the opprotunity to buy a ticket during the Claim period you arent allowed to buy until the tickets go on sale to the public. I dont think everyone who doesnt go to the game or buy a ticket is lazy, just may be overwhelmed with school work and simply just forget about going online to buy the ticket or get confused that they have one after requesting it.

If your in college spending 20$ on beer on a weekend, your doing it wrong.

willfollowpearl, students should be able to swipe their student ID's (like bball) and go in

Hamilton has a major problem on his hands. These are future donors/season ticket holders that are walking away from going to games

I don't buy that a college student might not have time.

I do understand the reasoning for the difficulty. Those tickets are much more valuable for sale to the public. It's the rebate rationale. Make it a little bit of a pain in the ass and regardless how good the deal might sound initially, the masses will blow it off.

Tickets at UT have never been free.....


When I was attending there, we had a Sports Entertainment package that was part of the tuition. This allowed you to get up to 4 tickets per game on one ID.

Blame it all on Hamilton. Charging students over and above the activity fee is ridiculous. The game is for the students. We always had and always should pick up the tab for their tix.
