Whats up guys,

Just printed off my first UT student ticket. I'm in section J. Doh! Damn loyalty points. My question is how long did it take you (students) to build up your points for the football games?

There were no loyalty points when I was at UT (94-2000). You camped out at the University Center the Wednesday before games of significance (i.e. Bama, UF, UGA, etc). Each student could stand in line with 4 student ID's and receive a ticket for each one. Tickets weren't bound to individual students. The student section was rocking back then. Thank Mike Hamilton for the current system and your seats in section J. Pre-Hamilton you would've been in section E-H.

If it's your first game don't be afraid to migrate down to the rest of the student section. It's Montana afterall so there should be plenty of room. Enjoy the game and to hell with the old dude behind you that says "Sit Down, I can't see!"

No loyalty points here either bro. We just gathered up all the student IDs we could, stumbled (literally) down to the UC, and the nice little lady took tge cards and gave us one ticket per ID. It was nice. All random of course, but we scooched our way in lower level, student section regardless for every game. Sounds like the system blows now.

The camping out part sounds kinda fun. This won't be my first UT game, just my first game as a student. I'm a first year GRAD student so apparently a percentage of my points will carry over to next year. And Gatorhater those are some sweet seats.

Basically a rating system. You get 1-3 pts based on the games you go to. The bigger the game the less pts you receive. The Montana game is worth 3 pts. SEC games are worth 1-2pts. At the beginning of next season a certain percentage of the points you received carries over. This allows you to get better seats.

At least this is the way I took it when I read it...

What are loyalty points?

I don't know the specifics but it sounds similar to what my girlfriend had at UGA. She always comments that by her senior year, she was finally getting the good seats, to the good games, and also paying for them. In turn, I feel obligated to regale her with tails of my free tickets to every game.

+1. I remember the line into the UC wrapping from downstairs back up the stairs, down the hall, out the doors facing Neyland, continuing all the way out to the main road and up to the library. Good times. Grad 03'.

When the '86 Sugar Bowl tickets went on sale, so many students lined up beforehand the UT cops couldn't control the crowd. They had to open the ticket office early in the morning to keep people from killing each other.

I thought it was based on the number of hours you and your group had. More hours better seats. Idk could be wrong.

my guess is you are a freshman, just be glad you are in the lower level! If you go to every game you will eventually move around to d or e. Also if you are in a group with upper classman that helps you get better seats because they take the average loyalty pts of the group

I was a student from 02-05 and we did it the old way. No loyalty points. Must be a new thing.

Hate to tell you this, but it was completely random during my time. My first game was #9 Vols/#2 Auburn and I watched from the 12th row on the 45.

On the flip side, I watched games from the rafters as a senior.

As a 5th year senior who has gone to 95% of home games here, I have to say it's random as hell. When I started, there was still no loyalty point crap. You waited outside the ticket office. Of course, they had already made the ticket drawings random by the time I was a freshman to avoid people camping out, etc. I got section J row 6 for the Montana game, with a group of a few other 5th years and some regular seniors. These are honestly the closest seats to the field I've ever had. I was in row 14 once but I've had bad luck with seats over the years.

Arkansas six overtime I was 18 rows up on the 35. Miami I was in DD row like 30. I think there was like 4 rows higher than me. Been all over the student section and even in the recruit endzone section during the rain soaked "Rex Grossman wearing Vaseline" 2002 game. Completely random during my time but it was still fun. Like flipping over a lotto card.

Just got my tickets for Montana. Gotta pay for these now. Loved when they were included in the student activity fee. Couldn't understand why people didn't go to every game as students.
