Student attendance

Thanks, I was wondering because someone on another board was claiming that 20-30% of our numbers are students, which I thought was laughable.

I know 12 years ago the allotment was around 80% of the student body which would have been around 20,000.

No way. I was there a little before that and the number was closer to 4-5K. That's why we had to get in line the day before big games to get tickets. The big joke was that everyone paid the "activity fee", but they only allotted a portion of tickets.

It could be worse.

If you go to Ohio State, you pay the activity fees, then have the honor of entering a weekly lottery for home game tickets that'll cost between $75-100 a pop.

Wow, that sucks. What might the activities fee actually cover?

I think you can play intramurals, work out at the campus facilities, use the campus pool, and other things like that. And of course, you could get tickets to athletic events.

I would think it would be close to 10k. I am pretty sure that UT basketball games are 5k for students. I would think that football would be more then basketball.

tickets can easily be bought. you just have to stand in line before season tickets go on sale.

For every sport all home game tickets are free. For basketball, students just swipe their student I.D. at the gates andgo in.

For football, you can start going to the University Center a week and a half before every home game and pick up your tickets. They give tickets out there until the Wednesday(I think) before the game. At that time any extra tickets are turned over to the Athletic Department and sold to the general public. Usually there isn't much of a line for tickets, maybe 5 to 10 minute.

I heard something like $25 or $30 at Ohio State, which is still a lot for a student. That was 2005.

this has nothing to do with the topic really...but is there going to be a new place for the student section next year in basketball?

I've been wondering the same question, I believe I remember hearing that they were going to try to expand the student section, but I might have just dreamed that up.
