Stripling loud and clear on potential of Appalachian State

Tennessee should be able to run the football down their throat and then some, Appalachian St had better tighten their chin straps as well as their jock straps.

The Mountaineers just may not find the kind of welcome they are looking for, up on Rocky Top.

I'm ready to welcome them. Got the tailgate gear cleaned, packed and ready to go. just need to add some cool beverages to ice down and good food to go with it. Gonna be weird tailgating on a Thursday but what the hey. Hope the atmosphere is like a typical Saturday.

Hopefully, we'll hold our own. Tennessee has one of the best teams it's had in what seems like ages. App has a solid team that should be at or near the top of the Sun Belt. There's still a significant difference between the top of the Sun Belt and the upper portion of the SEC.

Bottom line - UT wins and AppFan82 goes home happy for the start of another season of college football.
I see a close first half then we pull away in the the second half 42-14 then we all go home happy for the start of another season of college football

Well as long as those two don't overthink this one, we will dominate on both sides of the ball.

App. St. hasn't even entered my mind once this off season, and if wasn't for this thread I still wouldn't be thinking about them.

That Michigan win was nine years ago! To say it's old news is an understatement at best. Other than as a conversation starter to fill up the interminable offseason, I don't see much reason for bringing the subject up.

I do believe that win at Michigan ranks as one of the top ten college football upsets ever. I just don't think it means anything when discussing the upcoming App at UT game.

Won't stop some of our fan base from freaking out over such things. Same people that freak out over Vandy every year and Kentucky because we dropped one out of like 30 games.

Didn't worry before...even less now. :)
you know what, Michigan players and fans were thinking the same thing before that game. I get we are UT fans and its all team but you can't ever ever sleep. Any given gameday it can go down if you slip. I remember back in the day Mike Tyson was knocking out everyone stepped in the ring in 20 seconds or less.

People were paying 3-5k for tickets to a Tyson fight and it was over before they got seated. Mike Tyson was the best he knew it and everyone one knew it. everyone stepped in the ring with him lost before the stepped in the ring and they were 100% right. Then 2 things happened.

1. Tyson felt himself and went into training camp lackadaisical. He stopped training like a beast and started living the lifestyle that matched his reputation.

2. He got a match against a complete idiot. Buster Douglas was to stupid to realize he could not win. Under normal circumstances this would make no difference because at that point in his career Tyson was like if you combined Paul Bain and the one who came before and shall not be named and added in a nuclear bomb.Tyson was lazy and Douglas was stupid the 2 came together to become the biggest upset in heavyweight boxing history

This similar thing happens dang near every bowl season especially with Florida.. The second or third best team in the SEC misses the playoffs/big bowl feel they deserved it and because they are so butt hurt ends up letting a lame team beat them.

What are the chances of App state beating us? Something like 1000:1 but it's when you slip on that 1 out of a thousand that lottery tickets get cashed in.

The team that beat Appy State and broke their playoff streak in 08 was Montana, whom we defeated soundly in '10 under Derek Dooley. I'm not worried.

Lost handily to Clemson and Ark State last year, that holds more weight than their upset over Michigan almost a decade ago.

Tyson "felt" himself, and then fell apart? Uh oh, my world is fixing to come crashing down in a hurry! I'm owed bad fortune x1,000! Hope losing the App St game is not part of my punishment.
